పురాణం చెప్పిన శిష్యులు
వర్షాకాలం నాలుగు నెలలూ గడిచిపోగానే, గృహంలో అన్నీ నిండుకున్నందున, పరమానందయ్య శిష్య సమేతంగా మళ్ళీ గ్రాసం కోసం గ్రామాలను సందర్శించే కార్యక్రమాన్ని రూపొందించారు.
ఓ శుభ ముహూర్తాన ఒక గ్రామం బయల్దేరారు. ఊరి పొలిమేరల్లోనే వారిని చూసిన గ్రామపెద్ద నమస్కరించి శిష్యులతో సహా వేంచేసిన పరమానందయ్య గారిని కుశల ప్రశ్నలడిగి ఊళ్ళోకి ఆహ్వానించాడు.
గ్రామ చావడిలో వారికి విడిది ఏర్పాటు చేశాక “మహాత్మా! చాలా రోజులకు మాగ్రామానికి వేంచేశారు. మీరాక మాకు చాలా సంతోషదాయకం. ఈ కార్తీక మాసంలో పర్వదినాల సందర్భంగా పురాణ కాలక్షేపం చేయండి” అంటూ వేడుకున్నారు.
గురువుగారికి తన పదిమంది శిష్యులమీదా అపారమైన అభిమానం. పౌరులచేత వారిని కూడా పండితులుగా అంగీకరింపచెయ్యాలని ఉబలాటం.
అందువల్ల గ్రామస్తులతో “పురప్రజలారా! మీకు నాయందు గల అపారమైన అభిమానానికి, పురాణ కాలక్షేపం భాద్యత అప్పగించారు. కాని... నాకా వయసు మళ్ళుతోంది. ఎక్కువసేపు కూర్చోలేక పోతున్నాను.
అదీగాక-నా శిష్యుల్ని తక్కువగా అంచనా వేయకండి! వారిని నా అంత వాళ్ళుగా తీర్చిదిద్దడానికి చాలా కృషి చేశాను. రామాయణ, భారత, భాగవతాలు వారికి కరతలామలకాలు" అని వారిని ఒప్పించి "రెండు మూడు రోజుల పాటు మేము మీ గ్రామంలో ఉంటాం.
కనుక పుర జనులకు ఏది కావాలంటే అది పురాణ కాలక్షేపం వినిపించండి” అని శిష్యులకు చెప్పి, తాను విశ్రాంతి తీసుకున్నారు గురువుగారు.
గ్రామ చావడి దగ్గరే పురాణ కాలక్షేపం ఏర్పాటయింది. రాత్రి కాగానే గ్రామస్తులంతా. భోజనాలు చేసి, అక్కడ సమావేశమయ్యారు.
పరమానందయ్య గారి సూచన మేరకు ఒక శిష్యుడు వేదిక మీదికి వచ్చి “సభకు నమస్కారం” అన్నాడు. “అయ్యోరంటే' నిజంగా అయ్యోరే! సభ అంటే ఎంత వినయం? ఎంత వందనం?” అని ముచ్చట పడ్డారందరూ.
“సోదర సోదరీ మణులారా! నేను చెప్పబోయే విషయం మీకు తెలుసా?” అని అడిగాడు ఉఫోద్గాటంగా.
నిజానికి గ్రామ పెద్దలతో సంభాషిస్తూ “ఈ మూడు రోజులూ భాగవత పురాణం చెప్పుకొందాం" అని నిర్ణయించింది గురువుగారే, అదే సంగతిని గ్రామంలో చాటింపు కూడా వేయించారు. అయితే వినయంలో, అందులోనూ పెద్దల పట్ల విధేయత గల విషయంలో ఎంతో తెలిసివున్న అ గ్రామస్తులు “తమకు ఏమీ తెలియదన్నట్లే” ఉంటారు అది పెద్దల పట్ల చూపే మన్ననకు తార్మాణం. శిష్యుడీ విధంగా అనగానే “మాకు తెలీదు స్వామీ” అన్నారందరూ.
“అలాగా! ఐతే తెలీని వారికి ఏం చెప్పినా తెలీదు” అనేసి వేదిక , దిగి వెళ్ళిపోయాడా శిష్యుడు. ఈ సంగతిని గురువుగారి చెవిన వేద్దామంటే, ఆయన అప్పటికే శిష్యుడిమీద భరోసాతో సుష్టుగా తిని గుర్రుకొడుతున్నారు.
వార్ని నిద్రలేపడం అపచారమని భావించి, ఆ రాత్రికి గుసగుసలాడుకొంటూ నిరుత్సాహంతో ఎవరిళ్ళకు వాళ్ళు వెళ్ళిపోయారు.
మర్నాడు.....
మళ్ళీ పురాణం వినాలన్నా ఆసక్తికొద్దీ జనులు తయారయ్యారు.
ఈసారి ఇంకో శిష్యుడ్ని వేదిక ఎక్కించిన గురువుగారు బాగా నమ్మకంతో తిన్నవెంటనే ముంచుకొచ్చిన నిద్రను ఆపుకోలేక శయనించారు.
వేదిక ఎక్కిన శిష్యుడు “నేను చెప్పబోయే పురాణం మీకు తెలుసా?” అని మొదలుపెట్ట బోయాడు. గతరాత్రి అనుభవం దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకొని, తెలీదంటే ఏం తంటా వస్తుందో అన్నట్లుగా గ్రామస్తులు, “ఆ! ఆ! తెలుసు! తెలుసు!” అంటూ తలలు ఆడించారు.
“తెలిసిన వాళ్ళకు ఇక చెప్పడానికే ముంటుంది?” అనేసి శిష్యుడు వేదిక దిగి వెళ్ళిపోయాడు. జనులకు ఆ రాత్రీ నిరుత్సాహమే ఎదురైంది. విషయం పరమానందయ్య గారికి చెబుదామంటే ఆయన గుర్రు కొడుతున్నారాయె. నిద్ర లేపడం అపచారం గదా! ఎవరిళ్ళకు వాళ్ళు వెళ్ళిపోయారు.
మూడోరోజు రాత్రి కూడా పురాణం వినడానికి యథా ప్రకారం వచ్చారు ప్రజలు, ఒకవేళ గత రెండు రోజుల మాదిరిగా పరమానందయ్య గారి శిష్యుడు “నేను చెప్పబోయేది తెలుసా?” అని అడిగితే సగం మంది తెలుసునని, సగం మంది తెలీదని చెపుదాం అని కూడబలుక్కొని వచ్చారు. వాళ్ళు.
ఆరోజు దేవభూతి పురాణం చెప్పడానికి వేదిక ఎక్కాడు. “నేను చెప్పబోయే పురాణం మీరెరుగుదురా?” అన్నాడు నాందిగా, ముందే అనుకున్న ప్రకారం కొందరు తెలసనీ, కొందరు తెలీదనీ చెప్పారు. మొదటి రెండురోజులూ వేదిక ఎక్కిన ఇద్దరికంటే దేవభూతి కాస్త తెలివైనవాడు కావదం వల్ల “ఈ మాత్రానికి నేను దేనికీ? మీలో తెలిసిన వాళ్ళు తెలీని వాళ్ళకి చెబితే సరిపోతుంది” అని గిరుక్కున దిగిపోయాడు.
ఇక గ్రామస్తుల సహనం నశించడమే గాక, గురుశిష్యుల అతితెలివి తెల్లారినట్లే ఉందనుకుంటూ, తెల్లారేలోగా చావడి ఖాళీచేసి వచ్చిన దారినే పొమ్మని మర్యాదగా సాగనంపారు.

The Students Who Told Stories
Once, after the long rainy season, the wise teacher Paramanandayya
decided it was time to visit nearby villages to collect grass. He took his
students along with him.
One day, they arrived at a village. The village head was
very happy to see them and warmly welcomed Paramanandayya and his
students. He invited them to stay and asked, “Great teacher, during the
festival days of this month, could you tell stories from our scriptures?”
Paramanandayya loved his ten students very much and trusted
them completely. So he said to the villagers, “I am getting older and cannot
sit for long periods. But do not underestimate my students—they are well
trained in stories from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavata. They can tell
you these tales perfectly. We will stay in your village for two or three days,
and my students will share the stories.”

On the third day, when the villagers gathered, the student
asked gently, “Do you know the story I am going to tell?” Some said yes, and
some said no. The student thought carefully and finally decided, “I will tell
the story to those who do not know it and not repeat it for those who already
do.”
He told the stories clearly and kindly. Everyone enjoyed
them and understood the lessons perfectly.
Moral of the Story:
Sharing knowledge is most useful when we teach those who
need it, not those who already know it. Respect and understanding are key in
teaching.
