రంగమ్మ పరమ కోపిష్టి, ఆవిడ కోపానికి ఆగలేక ఎవ్వరూ కూడా ఇంట్లో పనిచేయలేక పోయేవారు. నెలకు నలుగురు వంట మనుషులు మారేవారు.

కొంత కాలానికి రంగమ్మ ఇంటికి మారయ్య అనే వంటవాడు చేరాడు. మారయ్య, తెలివైనవాడు. వంటలుకన్నా వాడి మాటలు గమ్మత్తుగా ఉండేవి. ఒకనాడు వాడు కాఫీ కోపాలో పోసి టేబుల్ మీద పెట్టి వెళ్ళిపోయాడు. రంగమ్మ కాఫీ తాగేముందు దాని మీద మూత తీసివేసి. చాలాసేపు పేపరు చదువుతూ కొద్దికొద్దిగా కాఫీ పుచ్చుకుంటోంది.

ఇంతలో ఒక ఈగ వచ్చి కాఫీలో పడి చచ్చింది.

ఆ కాఫీ పారబోయించి వేరే కాఫీ తెప్పించుకోవలసి వచ్చింది రంగమ్మకు. అయితే తన అజాగ్రత్తవల్ల కాఫీలో ఈగ పడిందని అనిపించుకోవడం రంగమ్మకు సుతారమూ ఇష్టంలేదు. అందువల్ల ఆ నెపం వంటవాడి మీద వెయ్యాలని నిశ్చయించుకుందామె.

వెంటనే మారయ్యని పిలచి ‘ఏమోయ్! ఇంత అజాగ్రత్త అయితే ఎలా? కాఫీ కోపాలో ఈగపడింది’ అంది కోపంగా..

దానికి వెంటనే మారయ్య తడుముకోకుండా “అమ్మా! కాఫీలో ఈగ పడకపోతే ఏనుగు పడుతుందా?” అన్నాడు..

“ఏనుగు పడదని నాకు తెలుసుకొని ఈగపడేలాగు పాలమీద మూత లేకుండా వుంచి, ఇంకా పెంకిమాటలు మాట్లాడతావేం” అని చాలా కోపంగా అడిగింది రంగమ్మ.

“అమ్మా! ఇందులో నా తప్పేమీ లేదు. మీ పాలు మంచివికావు. అందువల్ల ఇంత అవస్థ వచ్చి పడింది’ అని చమత్కరించాడు.

దానికి రంగమ్మ నొచ్చుకుంటూ “పని బాగా చేయమంటే కథలు చెబుతా వేమిటి? మర్యాదగా తప్పు ఒప్పుకో…” అంది.

ఆ మాటలకు మారయ్య “అమ్మా నీ దగ్గర పనిచేయడం నావల్ల కాదు.. అంటూ అక్కడినుంచి వెళ్ళిపోయాడు.”

రంగమ్మకు నోటమాట రాలేదు. తానొకటి తలిస్తే ఒకటి జరిగింది. ఉన్నట్టుండి. పనివాడే మానేసేసరికి ఇబ్బంది పడిందామె.

అయితే ఆ తర్వాత రంగమ్మ గురించి తెలిసిన వారెవ్వరూ ఆమె దగ్గర పనిచేయడానికి రాలేదు.

ఒకనాడు రంగమ్మకు జబ్బు చేసింది. మాట సహాయానికిగాని, వంట చేయడానికి గాని ఎవ్వరూ లేకపోవడంతో, అలాగే నీరసంతో వెళ్ళి పొయ్యి మీద కాఫీ పెట్టుకోబోయి పొయ్యిమీదపడి కాలిపోయి మరణించింది.

Moral of the Story : తన కోపమే తన శత్రువనడానికి ఇదొక ఉదాహరణ.

Rangamma's Extreme Anger

Rangamma was known for her terrible temper. No one could work in her house because of her anger. She would get upset over small things, and the workers would leave. Every month, four different cooks would come and go. After some time, a cook named Marayya joined her house. Marayya was clever, and he spoke in such a funny way that people enjoyed listening to him, even more than his cooking.

One day, Marayya made coffee and left it on the table, but before Rangamma could drink it, she removed the lid and started reading the newspaper while sipping the coffee slowly. Just then, a fly fell into the coffee and died. Rangamma was upset and thought she would need to make new coffee. But, she didn’t like the idea that the fly fell into the coffee because of her carelessness. So, she decided to blame the cook.

She called Marayya and angrily said, "Hey! How careless are you? A fly fell into the coffee!" 

Without hesitation, Marayya replied, "Mother, if a fly fell into the coffee, would an elephant fall into it?"

Rangamma snapped back, "I know an elephant won't fall in! But why didn't you cover the milk properly? And stop making excuses!" 

Marayya calmly responded, "Mother, it’s not my fault. The milk was good, but because you left it uncovered, the fly fell in."

Rangamma didn’t like his response and said, "If you don’t admit your mistake, I’ll have to fire you!" 

Marayya, not willing to argue more, said, "I won’t work here anymore." And he left. 

Rangamma was left speechless. She realized that her anger had caused her to lose a good worker. Later, no one wanted to work for Rangamma because of her bad temper. One day, she got sick and, unable to find anyone to help her, she tried to make coffee for herself. Unfortunately, while trying to pour the coffee, she accidentally fell into the stove, was badly burned, and died.

Moral of the Story: This is an example of how one’s own anger can become their worst enemy.

The Tiny Tree
