ఒక మహారాజుగార్మి ఒక కోతితో ఎక్కువ చనువు ఏర్పడింది. ఆయన దానితోనే ఎక్కువ కాలక్షేపము చేస్తుండేవారు. రాజుగారంటే దానికి కూడా 'ఎక్కువ ప్రేమ.
ఆయనకు ఏహాని కలుగకుండా కంటికి రెప్పలాగ కాపాడుతుండేది. దాని అభిమానానికి మెచ్చి రాజుగారు దానికొ ఖడ్గం బహుమానంగా యిచ్చి దానినే తన అంగరక్షకునిగా నియమించుకున్నారు.
ఒకరోజున రాజుగారు గాఢంగా నిద్రపోతున్నారు. ఇంతలో హఠాత్తుగా ఎక్కడినుండి వచ్చిందో ఒక కందిరీగ రాజుగారి ముఖంచుట్టూ తిరుగుతూ. “రుమ్ర్సుమ్! అని ధ్వని చేయడం మొదలు పెట్టింది.
కోతి దాన్ని చూచి చేతితో అదిలించింది. అదిపోయినట్టే పోయి మళ్ళీవచ్చి గోల చేయసాగింది. కోతి తిరిగి దాన్ని తన జేబురుమాలుతో బయటికి తోలివేసింది.
కాసేపైన తర్వాత కందిరీగ మళ్ళీవచ్చి ఎగురుతూ రాజుగారి ముక్కుపైన కూర్చొంది. దాన్ని చూడగానే కోతికి ఎక్కడలేని కోపమూ వచ్చింది. తన కత్తితీసి ఒక్కవేటుతో ఈగని చంపివేసింది. ఈగతోబాటు రాజుగారి ముక్కు కూడా తెగిక్రిందపడింది.
రాజు బాధతో మూల్గుతూ లేచి తన తప్పువల్లే యిట్లా జరిగిందని తెలిసికొన్నాడు. కోతి ఉద్యోగాన్ని, దాని కత్తిని పీకివేసి దాన్ని తోటలోకి తరిమేయమని భటులకు చెప్పారు.
నీతి:- అల్పబుద్ధి కలవారికి అధికారమీయరాదు.

ఒకప్పుడు ఒక తోటలో వడ్రంగులు(carpenters) చెక్క పని చేస్తుండగా అక్కడ ఒక కోతుల గుంపు వచ్చింది.

ఒక వడ్రంగి ఒక భారీ చెక్క దుంగను (log) కోస్తున్నాడు. ఇది సగం మాత్రమే పూర్తి అయినందున అతను దుంగ మూసివేయకుండా ఉండడానికి మధ్యలో ఒక చీలికను (Wedge) ఉంచాడు. ఆ తర్వాత అతను భోజనానికి ఇతర వడ్రంగులతో కలిసి బయలుదేరాడు.
పనివాళ్ళందరూ వెళ్ళిపోయాక, కోతులు చెట్ల మీద నుండి దిగి, వడ్రంగులు పని చేస్తున్న చోట దూకడం మరియు టూల్స్ తో ఆడుకోవడం ప్రారంభించాయి.

ఒక కోతి, దుంగ మూసివేయకుండా ఉండడానికి మధ్యలో పెట్టిన చీలిక గురించి ఆసక్తిగా ఉంది. ఆ కోతి చీలిపోయిన దుంగ మధ్యలో కూర్చొని, చీలికను పట్టుకుని లాగడం ప్రారంభించింది.
ఒక్కసారిగా చీలిక బయటకు వచ్చింది. దీంతో సగం చీలిపోయిన దుంగ మూసుకుపోవడంతో కోతి ఆ దుంగలో చిక్కుకుంది.
తన విధి ప్రకారం, తను తీవ్రంగా గాయపడింది.
Moral of the Story:
“ఇతరుల పనుల్లో జోక్యం చేసుకోవడం వల్ల ఊహించని పరిణామాలు ఎదురవుతాయి.
పరిమితులను ఏర్పరచుకోవడం మరియు మన స్వంతం కాని పనులలో జోక్యం చేసుకోకుండా ఉండటం తెలివైన పని.”

1. The Foolish Monkey and the King
(Telugu Moral Story)
Once upon a time, a king became very fond of a monkey.
He spent most of his free time with it.
The monkey also loved the king very much. It stayed close to
him all the time and protected him like a loyal guard.
The king was pleased with the monkey’s devotion. So he
gifted the monkey a sword and made it his personal bodyguard.
The Incident
One afternoon, the king was sleeping peacefully.
Suddenly, a fly came buzzing around his face — “Bzzz… Bzzz…”
The monkey waved its hand and drove the fly away. But the
fly came back again and again.
The monkey tried pushing it away with a cloth. Still, the
fly returned and finally sat on the king’s nose.
The monkey became very angry.
Without thinking, it pulled out the sword and struck hard at
the fly.
The fly died.
But sadly… the king’s nose was cut off too.
The king woke up in pain. He realized it was his mistake to
give a dangerous weapon to someone foolish.
He immediately took back the sword and removed the monkey
from its position.
Moral of the Story
Never give power or responsibility to someone who lacks
wisdom.

2. The Monkey and the Wedge
(Panchatantra Story)
Once, some carpenters were working in a garden.
A group of monkeys was watching them from the trees.
One carpenter was cutting a big wooden log.
He had split it halfway and placed a wedge in the middle to keep it open. Then
he left for lunch with the other workers.
After they left, the monkeys jumped down and started playing
with the tools.
One curious monkey noticed the wedge stuck in the log.
It sat between the split log and started pulling the wedge out.
Suddenly, the wedge came loose.
The two heavy pieces of wood closed together quickly — and
the monkey got trapped in between.
It was badly hurt.
Moral of the Story
Do not interfere in other people’s work.
Curiosity without understanding can lead to danger.
