కథా వివరణ:
1. తొలి యుద్ధం - రాముని సందిగ్ధం:
రాముడి పరాక్రమం చూసి ధైర్యం తెచ్చుకున్న సుగ్రీవుడు కిష్కింధకు వెళ్లి భీకర గర్జన చేసి వాలిని యుద్ధానికి పిలిచాడు. ఇద్దరూ భీకరంగా పోరాడుతున్నారు. ఒకరిని ఒకరు తీవ్రంగా పిడి గుద్దులు గుద్దుకున్నారు,అయితే ఇద్దరి రూపాలు,అరుపులు, బలం అంతా ఒకేలా ఉండటంతో,రాముడు బాణం వేస్తే ఎక్కడ సుగ్రీవుడికి తగులుతుందోనని ఆగిపోయాడు.దెబ్బలు తిన్న సుగ్రీవుడు ప్రాణాలు గుప్పెట్లో పెట్టుకుని రుష్యమూక పర్వతానికి పారిపోయి, "నన్ను చంపించడానికే పంపావా రామా?" వాలిని వదించే ఉద్దేశ్యం మీకు లేకపోతే నాకు చెప్పి ఉండవచ్చు కదా అని నిలదీశాడు.
2. గజపుష్పి మాల:
రాముడు తన సందిగ్ధాన్ని వివరించి, గుర్తింపు కోసం లక్ష్మణుడి ద్వారా ఒక "గజపుష్పి" లతను (తీగను) సుగ్రీవుడి మెడలో మాలగా వేయించాడు. మళ్లీ సుగ్రీవుడు కిష్కింధకు వెళ్లి సింహనాదం చేశాడు.
3. తార హెచ్చరిక - వాలి అహంకారం:
సుగ్రీవుడి అరుపు విన్న వాలి భార్య 'తార' భయపడింది. తార గొప్ప పతివ్రత,చాలా తెలివైనది, ఇప్పుడే మీ చేతిలో చావు దెబ్బలు తిన్న సుగ్రీవుడు మళ్ళీ మిమ్మల్ని యుద్ధానికి పిలుస్తూ ఉన్నాడు అంటే అతని వెంట బలవంతుడు అయిన మిత్రుడు ఉండి ఉండాలి,"సుగ్రీవుడికి శ్రీరాముడి అండ దొరికింది అని విన్నాను. ఇప్పుడు యుద్ధానికి వెళ్ళొద్దు"అని బ్రతిమాలింది. కానీ అహంకారంతో ఉన్న వాలి, "రాముడు ధర్మాత్ముడు, కారణం లేకుండా నన్ను చంపడు" అని చెప్పి యుద్ధానికి బయలుదేరాడు.
4. వాలి వధ:
వాలి, సుగ్రీవుల మధ్య భీకర సమరం మొదలైంది. మునుపటి వలెనే వాలిదే పై చేయు అయింది, సుగ్రీవుని పని అయిపోవచ్చింది అని భావించాడు రాముడు.గజపుష్పి మాల వల్ల సుగ్రీవుడిని స్పష్టంగా గుర్తుపట్టిన రాముడు,ఒక చెట్టు మాటున నిలబడి తన ధనుస్సును ఎక్కుపెట్టి వాడియైన బాణాన్ని వాలి రొమ్ముకు గురిచూసి కొట్టాడు. ఆ దెబ్బకు ఇంద్రుడిచ్చిన కాంచన మాల ఉన్నప్పటికీ, వాలి నేలకొరిగాడు.
5. రాముని ధర్మ సూక్ష్మం:
నెత్తురోడుతున్న వాలి, "రామా! చెట్టు చాటు నుండి కొట్టడానికి సిగ్గులేదా? ఇది క్షత్రియ ధర్మమేనా?" అని ప్రశ్నించాడు.
అప్పుడు రాముడు,
శ్లోకం:
"ఔరసీం భగినీం వాపి భార్యాం వాప్యనుజస్య యః |
ప్రగృహ్ణీత నరో మోహాత్తస్య దండః వధః స్మృతః ||"

"వాలీ! తమ్ముడు కొడుకుతో సమానం, తమ్ముడి భార్య కోడలితో సమానం. బతికున్న తమ్ముడి భార్యను (రుమను) అపహరించిన పాపాత్ముడివి నువ్వు. భరతుడి ప్రతినిధిగా(పాదుకలు ఇచ్చే సమయంలోనే చెపుతాడు నీవు అయోధ్యను ఏలు నేను అరణ్యాన్ని రక్షిస్తాను అని)రాజ్యంలో ధర్మాన్ని నిలబెట్టడానికి మరణశిక్ష విధించాను."పర్వతాలు, అరణ్యాలు, నదీనదాలతో కూడియున్న ఈ సమస్త ధరాతలానికి ఇక్ష్వాకు వంశీయులే ప్రభువులు. సర్వ నరుల మీద, సర్వ జంతువుల మీద ఇక్ష్వాకు వంశరాజులకు సంపూర్ణమైన అధికారముంది. తమ ఇష్టానుసారం ఎవరినైనాసరే నిగ్రహించటానికీ, అనుగ్రహించటానికీ వారు అధికారం కలిగి ఉన్నారు.పైగా నువ్వు వానరానివి (మృగానివి), వేటగాడు మృగాన్ని ఎలాగైనా వేటాడవచ్చు"కనుకే నిన్ను వేటాడాను అని ధర్మ సూక్ష్మాన్ని బోధించాడు.
6. వాలి పశ్చాత్తాపం:
రాముడి మాటలలోని సత్యాన్ని గ్రహించిన వాలి, తన తప్పును ఒప్పుకున్నాడు.నీవు చెప్పినదంతా నిశ్చితంగా యథార్థమే. నా గర్వాతిశయం వల్లను, నా స్వీయ దుష్కృత్యాల గురించిన అజ్ఞానం వల్లను నిన్ను అభిశంసించ సాహసించాను. ప్రియమైన రామా! నా భార్య తార ద్వారా కలిగిన నా ఏకైక పుత్రుడైన అంగదుణ్ణి సంరక్షించవలసిందిగా నిన్ను వేడుకొంటున్నాను. నా మృత్యువు గురించి విన్నంతనే అతను దు:ఖతప్తుడు కావటం తథ్యం. అజ్ఞానం చేత నేను పలికిన పరుషోక్తులకు దయచేసి నన్ను మన్నించు" అన్నాడు. అంగదుణ్ణి తాను సంరక్షిస్తానని వాలికి రాముడు అభయమిచ్చాడు.

Story Overview:
Impressed by Rama’s strength, Sugriva went to Kishkindha and
challenged Vali to battle with a loud roar. A fierce duel began between them,
but they appeared identical in form and strength. Unable to distinguish between
them, Rama hesitated to shoot an arrow for fear of hitting Sugriva. Injured and
defeated, Sugriva returned to Rishyamukha and questioned Rama’s intent.
Gajapushpi Garland
To resolve the confusion, Rama instructed Lakshmana to place
a “Gajapushpi” creeper garland on Sugriva’s neck as a mark of identification.
With this sign, Sugriva returned to Kishkindha and roared again.
Tara’s Warning
Vali’s wise wife Tara warned him not to go into battle, as
Sugriva might now be supported by a powerful ally—Rama. However, Vali, driven
by pride, ignored her advice and went to fight, believing Rama would not act
unjustly.
Death of Vali
A fierce battle took place, and Vali once again overpowered
Sugriva. Recognizing Sugriva clearly through the garland, Rama hid behind a
tree and shot a powerful arrow that struck Vali in the chest, causing him to
fall.
Rama’s Dharma Explanation
Dying Vali questioned Rama’s ethics for attacking from
behind a tree. Rama explained the principle of dharma, stating that one who
wrongfully takes another’s wife deserves punishment. He justified his action as
upholding justice and righteousness.
