కైకేయి కోరిన పిడుగు లాంటి వరాలు విన్న తర్వాత దశరధుడు మూర్ఛ వచ్చిపడిపోతాడు లేచిన తర్వాత కాసేపటికి కాస్త ఓపిక తెచ్చుకుని ఇది సరియైనటువంటి కోరిక కాదు భరతుడు కూడా దీన్ని అంగీకరించడు నీ కోరిక ఎన్నటికీ నెరవేరదు.వేరేదైన కోరికను కోరు అని అనేక విధాలుగా బతిలాడుతాడు కానీ మందర యొక్క బుద్ధి చేత మాటల చేత పూర్తిగా ప్రేరేపితురాలు అయినటువంటి కైక రాముడు వనవాసానికి వెళ్లాల్సిందే భరతుడు పట్టాభిషిక్తుడు అవ్వాల్సిందే అని పట్టుబడుతుంది మాటలకు రాత్రంతా ఎంతో దుఃఖంతో ప్రియమైనటువంటి పుత్రుడు దూరమవుతున్నాడు అనే వేదనతో దశరథుడు ఏడ్చి ఏడ్చి పడిపోతాడు తెల్లవారింది.
అయోధ్య అంతా శ్రీరామ పట్టాభిషేక మహోత్సవంలో మునిగి తేలుతోంది. మంగళ వాయిద్యాలు మ్రోగుతున్నాయి. రాముడు రాత్రంతా పట్టాభిషేకం కి ముందు చేయాల్సిన దీక్షను సీతమ్మ తో కలసి ఆచరించాడు,మానవ అవతారం లో ఉన్నాడు కనుక రాజు కాబోతున్నాడు అనే ఆనందం అందరికీ ఎలా ఉంటుందో అలాంటి ఆనందంతో ఉన్న శ్రీరాముడిని సుమంత్రుడు కైకేయి అంతఃపురానికి తీసుకువచ్చాడు.
లోపలికి అడుగుపెట్టగానే... అక్కడ దృశ్యం చూసి నిశ్చేష్టుడయ్యాడు. తండ్రి దశరథుడు దుమ్ముకొట్టుకుపోయి, కన్నీరు మున్నీరుగా విలపిస్తూ నేలపై పడి ఉన్నాడు. ఆయన పక్కనే కైకేయి ఏమాత్రం చలనం లేకుండా కూర్చుని ఉంది. రాముని చూసి రామ రామ అని మాత్రమే ఉచ్చరించి మళ్ళీ స్పృహ కోల్పోతాడు దశరధుడు, మళ్ళీ స్పృహ వచ్చినా రాముని వైపు తిరిగి మాట్లాడ లేకపోయాడు
2. రాముని ఆవేదన - కైకేయి కఠోర వాక్కు:
అది చూసి"అమ్మా! ఏమైంది? నాన్నగారు ముఖం తిప్పుకుంటున్నారు, ఒక్క మాట కూడా మాట్లాడటం లేదు. నా వల్ల ఏదైనా అపరాధం జరిగిందా?" అని రాముడు కైకేయిని ప్రాధేయపడ్డాడు.
అప్పుడు కైకేయి అత్యంత కఠినంగా, "రామా! నీవల్ల ఎలాంటి తప్పు జరగలేదు. అయితే నీకొక విషయం చెప్పాల్సి ఉంది అది చెపితే నువ్వు బాధపడతావు ఏమో అని ఆలోచన చేస్తున్నాడు. ఏం లేదు నీ తండ్రి గతంలో నాకు రెండు వరాలు ఇచ్చారు. వాటిని తీర్చమని ఇప్పుడు కోరాను కానీ బలహీనుడు అయి వాటిని తీర్చడానికి ఆలోచిస్తూ ఉన్నాడు.నీ తండ్రి అసత్య వాదిగా మారకుండా నీవే ఆయన పుణ్యం రక్షించాలి. ఓ రామ మహారాజు ఆజ్ఞ ప్రకారం నడుచు కుంటాను అని నాకు ప్రమాణం చేస్తే ఆ రెండు ఏమిటో చెప్తాను అన్నది కైక.
"ఈ మాటలకు ఎంతగానో వ్యథచెందిన రాముడు "అమ్మా! నా తండ్రిగారి కోరిక ఏదైనప్పటికీ - నేను అగ్నిలో దూకవలసి వచ్చినప్పటికీ- మారు మాటాడకుండా నెరవేరుస్తానన్న విషయమై నీ మనసులో ఏ కొంచెమైనా సందేహం తలెత్తటం నాకు ఆశ్చర్యం కలిగిస్తున్నది.
"నాన్నగారు కోరుతున్నదేమిటో దయచేసి నాకు చెప్పు. నేను ఆ ప్రకారమే నడుచుకుంటానన్న విషయంలో సందేహించకు. ఆ మేరకు నేను దృఢంగా వాగ్దానం చేస్తున్నాను" అని బదులుపలికాడు.
అప్పుడు కైక అన్నది ఆ వరాల ప్రకారం..
నీ కోసం చేసిన ఏర్పాట్లతోనే నీ తమ్ముడు భరతుడికి పట్టాభిషేకం జరగాలి. రెండవది, నువ్వు నారచీరలు కట్టుకుని పద్నాలుగేళ్ల పాటు దండకారణ్యంలో మునివృత్తితో జీవించాలి.నీ మీద ఉన్న ప్రేమతో నీ తండ్రి ఈ మాట చెప్పలేకపోతున్నాడు" అని నిర్మొహమాటంగా చెప్పింది.నీ తండ్రి అసత్య మార్గం పట్టకుండా ఉండాలి అంటే నీవు అరణ్య మార్గం పట్టాలి అని చెప్పింది.
3. చలించని మహర్నవం (శ్రీరాముని స్థితప్రజ్ఞత):
పిడుగు లాంటి ఆ మాటలు విన్నా శ్రీరాముడి ముఖంలో కించిత్ కూడా మార్పు రాలేదు. సముద్రమంత గంభీరంగా, ప్రశాంతంగా చిరునవ్వుతో ఇలా అన్నాడు:
"అమ్మా! దీని కోసమా నాన్నగారు ఇంతలా బాధపడుతున్నారు?తండ్రిగారి ఆజ్ఞను నెరవేర్చడం కంటే నాకు వేరే భాగ్యం ఏముంది? మీరు అడగాలే కానీ నా ప్రాణాలను కూడా సంతోషంగా ఇచ్చేస్తాను, ఇక ఈ రాజ్యం ఒక లెక్కా? నా తమ్ముడు భరతుడు రాజ్యమేలడం నాకు అత్యంత సంతోషకరమైన విషయం.నా తండ్రి సత్యం నిలబడటం కోసం, నేను ఇప్పుడే నారచీరలు కట్టుకుని అడవికి బయలుదేరుతాను."అని బదులు పలికాడు.
ఆహా చక్కని పలుకులు పలికావు రామా, ఆలస్యం చేయకుండా బయలు దేరు,నీ తండ్రి గురించి ఏమీ బెంగపెట్టుకోకు. ప్రస్తుతానికి కొంచెం దిమ్మెర పోయాడుకాని నీవు వెళ్ళిపోగానే స్వస్థత పొందుతాడులే" అంది.

ఆ మాటలకు దశరథుడి గుండె పగిలింది. "రామా! ఆడదాని మాయలో పడి నేను మతితప్పి ఈ వరాలు ఇచ్చాను.నా మాట వినవద్దు.నన్ను బంధించి అయినా సరే నీవు రాజువు కావాలి.ఈ అన్యాయాన్ని అంగీకరించకు" అని కొడుకు కాళ్లపై పడి ఏడ్చాడు.కానీ రాముడు తండ్రిని హత్తుకుని, "నాన్నగారు! సత్యమే పరమ ధర్మం. మీరు ఇచ్చిన మాటకు కట్టుబడటం నా బాధ్యత. నా వల్ల మీరు అసత్యదోషానికి గురికాకూడదు" అని ఓదార్చాడు. ఈ వార్త అయోధ్య అంతా కార్చిచ్చులా వ్యాపించింది. పట్టాభిషేక వేడుకలు ఆగిపోయాయి. నగరమంతా శోకసముద్రంలో మునిగిపోయింది. కన్నతల్లి కౌసల్యకు ఈ విషయం చెప్పడానికి, అనుమతి తీసుకోవడానికి రాముడు బయలుదేరాడు.

After hearing Kaikeyi’s harsh and thunder-like boons, King
Dasharatha collapses in shock. Upon regaining consciousness, he pleads with her
repeatedly, saying that her demand is unjust and even Bharata would not accept
it. He begs her to ask for something else, but Kaikeyi, completely influenced
by Manthara’s manipulations, firmly insists that Rama must go to exile and
Bharata must be crowned king. Heartbroken, Dasharatha spends the entire night
weeping in agony over the thought of losing his beloved son.
Meanwhile, Ayodhya is filled with joy, celebrating Rama’s
coronation preparations. Auspicious music fills the air. Rama, along with Sita,
observes the necessary rituals for the coronation. Sumantra brings Rama to
Kaikeyi’s chamber.
As Rama enters, he is stunned by the sight—his father lying
on the ground, covered in dust, crying uncontrollably, while Kaikeyi sits
unmoved. Dasharatha, upon seeing Rama, utters only his name and faints again.
Concerned, Rama asks Kaikeyi what has happened and whether
he has committed any mistake. Kaikeyi coldly replies that Rama has done nothing
wrong but reminds him of the two boons granted to her by Dasharatha. She asks
Rama to promise obedience before revealing them.
Rama, deeply pained yet composed, assures her that he would
fulfill any wish of his father, even at the cost of his life. Kaikeyi then
declares her demands: Bharata must be crowned king using the arrangements made
for Rama, and Rama must live in exile in the forest for fourteen years.
Despite hearing such shocking words, Rama remains calm and
serene. With a gentle smile, he accepts the आदेश, stating that fulfilling his
father’s promise is his greatest duty. He willingly agrees to go to the forest
immediately.
Dasharatha, unable to bear the situation, pleads with Rama
not to obey and even asks him to imprison him if necessary and take the throne.
However, Rama consoles his father, emphasizing that truth and righteousness
must prevail.
The news spreads across Ayodhya like wildfire. The
celebrations stop, and the entire city is plunged into sorrow. Rama then
proceeds to seek his mother Kausalya’s blessings before departing.
