ఇంతలో ఉన్నట్టుండి ఒక శిష్యుడికి గొప్ప సందేహం కలిగింది.'రాత్రిపూట ఆరుబయట ఏటిఒడ్డున దయ్యాలు షికారు చేస్తుంటాయి” అని ఏదో సందర్భంలో గురువుగారు, చెప్పిన వైనం ఆ శిష్యుడికి గుర్తుకొచ్చింది.

ఏ కారణం చేతనైనా ఒకవేళ ఏరుగానీ నిద్రపోకపోతే, అర్ధరాత్రి అయినా సరే! తాము అక్కడే పడి ఉండాల్సి వస్తుంది కదా! చూడబోతే గురువుగారు అందర్నీ కూర్చోవలసిందిగా చెప్పారు. ఇంకాస్సేపట్లో దయ్యాలు షికారు కొచ్చాయంటే, అవి మనల్ని పీక్కుతినక బతకనిస్తాయా?.. ఇదీ ఆ శిష్యుడి శంక.

భయపడుతూనే తన అనుమానం బయట పెట్టాడా శిష్యుడు. దానికి పరమానందయ్యగారు వెంటనే స్పందించి “నిజమేనర్రోయ్‌! సమయానికి గుర్తు చేశాడు కుర్రకుంక. అదీ బుద్ధి అంటే.... పాదరసంలా అలా పని చెయ్యాలి. 

వెంటనే బిగ్గరగా అందరూ ఆంజనేయ దండకం లఘువుగానేనా పఠించండి” అంటూనే ముందు తాను ప్రారంభించాడు.

“శ్రీ ఆంజనేయం- ప్రసన్నాంజనేయం” అని పరమానందయ్య అనగానే 

“ప్రభాదివ్యకాయం” అని ఒకడూ, 

“ప్రకీర్తి ప్రదాయం” అని ఇంకో శిష్యుడూ, 

“భజే వాయుపుత్రం” అని మరో శిష్యుడూ, 

“భజేవాలగాత్రం” అంటూ చివరివాడూ అందుకున్నారు.

“అలాక్కాదర్రా! అందరూ మొదట్నుంచీ పూర్తిగా మొత్తం చదవాలి” అనగానే, ఒక్కడికీ గుర్తులేదు కనుక “గురువుగారూ! మంత్రాల్ని నోట్లోనే చదువుకోవాలి. బైటకు అనరాదు” అని మీరేకదా ఓసారి చెప్పారు” అంటూ ఇంకో బుద్ధిమంతుడు గుర్తు చేశాడు.

“అవునవును! చెప్పే వుంటాను. -అసలే దెయ్యాలకి విరుగుడు మంత్రం-ఆంజనేయస్తోత్రం. మనం విరుగుడు మంత్రాలు చదువు తున్నట్లు వాటికి అస్సలు తెలీకూడదు” అన్నారు పరమానందయ్య సమర్దించుకుంటూ.

“ఎంతరాత్రిఅయినా ఏరు నిద్రపోయిందో, లేదో తెలీయడమెలా?” అంటే “ఏముందీ! ఇందాక మనవాడు కొరకంచుతో చురక పెట్టాడు గదా! దాన్ని తిరగేసి నీట్లోకి గుచ్చితే సరి.... నిప్రోతే, అదే పక్కకు ఒత్తిగిల్లుతుంది” అని పరిష్కారం సూచించారు పరమానందయ్యగారు.

“ఇంకా వేచిచూస్తూ కూర్చోడం నావల్ల కాదు. ఆపనేదో నేనుచేస్తా! ఏరు నిద్దరోయిందో లేదో చూసొస్తా” అంటూ ఆంజనేయ దండకం గుర్తున్నంత మేర చదువుకుంటూ, ఇందాకటి శిష్యుడే కొరకంచు తిరగేసి పట్టుకొని ధైర్యంగా ఏట్లోకి వెళ్ళి గుచ్చాడు.

నీటి ప్రవాహ వేగానికి కొరకంచు ఊగిసలాడింది. గుచ్చినచోట నీళ్ళు సుడి తిరిగేసరికి, అది ప్రక్కకు ఒత్తిగిలి మరీ నిద్రోయిందని గుర్తించి సంబరంగా ఆ శిష్యుడు అక్కడ్నించే అందర్నీ సామాన్లతో సహా రమ్మని కేక వేశాడు. అందరూ పంచెలు పైకి ఎగగట్టి, సామాగ్రి బుర్రలమీద సర్దుకొని ఏట్లో కాలు మోపారు.

ముందుగా నెమ్మదిగా పరమానందయ్య; వారికి కాస్త వెనుకగా ధైర్యశాలి శిష్యుడూ, ఆ వెనుక ఒకరొకరే మిగతావారూ ఏట్లో దిగి అతి జాగ్రత్తగా ఆవలి ఒడ్డుకు చేరుకున్నారు. మహాసముద్రాన్ని దాటినంతగా ఆనందపడ్డారు.

Crossing the River – A Paramanandayya Sishyulu Adventure

One evening, a disciple remembered something Guru Paramanandayya had said:

"At midnight, ghosts roam around and might attack anyone who isn’t careful."

Worried, the disciple asked himself:

"If we can’t sleep at the right time, won’t the ghosts come for us even at midnight?"

Paramanandayya noticed the disciple’s fear and immediately reassured him:

"Clever boy! Remember, you must act wisely like the flow of foot energy. Now, recite the Hanuman Dandakam carefully to protect yourselves."

The disciples started reciting in bits:

• “Sri Anjaneya Prasanna Anjaneya…”
• “Prabha divyakayaam…”
• “Prakeerthi pradaayam…”
• “Bhaje Vayuputram…”

Paramanandayya stopped them:

"No, no! Everyone must recite the entire verse fully from start to finish."

One disciple then remembered:

"Guru, the mantras must be recited inside the mouth only, not aloud, or the ghosts might notice."

Paramanandayya agreed: “Exactly! The ghosts won’t know we are using protective mantras.”

Crossing the River

The disciples faced the river. One brave disciple, holding the boat paddle, guided it confidently while chanting the protective verse. As the boat moved, it swayed with the current, but the clever disciple skillfully directed it to the riverbank.
