ఒకరోజున గోవిందుకి వాళ్ళనాన్న ఒక చిన్న వెండి పెట్టెను ఇచ్చి “గోవిందా! ఈ పెట్టెను తీసుకొనివెళ్ళి ప్రక్కఊారిలోనున్న మీ మామయ్యకు యిచ్చి తిరిగి త్వరగా వచ్చేయ్! నీవు పెందరాళే బయలుదేరివెళ్తే మళ్ళీపొద్దు పోయేలోపు యింటికి రావచ్చు!” అని చెప్పాడు.
గోవిందువెంటనే బయలుదేరి 2గం,ల్లో వాళ్ళ మామయ్య గారింటికి చేరుకొన్నాడు. వాళ్ళ మామయ్యకు ఆపెట్టెను యిచ్చివేశాడు. వాళ్ళ అత్తయ్య గోవిందుకు పిండివంటలతో చక్కటి భోజనం పెట్టింది.
కొంతసేపైన తర్వాత వాళ్ళ మామయ్యవచ్చి “నేను పెట్టెలోని వస్తువుల్ని తీసుకొన్నాను. ఇంక నీవీపెట్టెను తిరిగి తీసుకొని వెళ్ళవచ్చును.” అని గోవిందుకు ఆ వెండి పెట్టెను యిచ్చి “బాబూ! జాగ్రత్తగా వెళ్ళు. దారిలో టక్కరిదొంగలుంటారు.” అని చెప్పి, గోవిందుని సాగనంపాడు.
కొంతదూరం వెళ్ళిన తర్వాత ఎవరో దొంగ తనవెనకే వస్తున్నట్లు గోవిందుకు అనుమానం వచ్చింది. ఏం చేయాలో తోచక పరుగులంకించుకొన్నాడు. ఆ దొంగకూడా పరుగెత్తడం మొదలుపెట్టాడు. దార్లో ఒక నుయ్యి కన్పించింది. కొంచెం నీళ్ళుత్రాగి వెళ్ళామని నూతి దగ్గరకు వెళ్ళాడు.

దొంగ అంతకంతకూ దగ్గరగా వస్తున్నాడు. వెంటనే గోవిందుకు మెరుపులాంటి ఆలోచన ఒకటి తట్టింది. పెద్దగా అరుస్తూ “అమ్మోయ్! బాబోయ్! నేనిప్పుడు ఏంచేసేదిరా దేవుడోయ్!” అని కేకలు వేయడం మొదలెట్టాడు. అప్పుడా దొంగ దగ్గరగావచ్చి “ఏంబాబూ! ఎందుకేడుస్తున్నావు?” అన్నాడు. వెంటనే గోవిందు “నేను నీళ్ళుతోడు తుంటే నాచేతి గొలుసు, ఉంగరం,
వాచీ నూతిలో పడిపోయాయి. అవిలేకుండా యింటికి ఎట్లా వెళ్ళాలి?” అన్నాడు.
“వెండిపెట్టె కంటే అవే మేలు. బంగారు గొలుసు, ఉంగరం, వాచీ-వాటిని అమ్ముకొంటే బోలెడంత డబ్బువస్తుంది” అని అనుకొన్నాడు దొంగ.
“బాబూ! నువ్వు ఇక్కడే ఉండు. నేను నీ వస్తువులను పైకితెస్తాను” అని, వెంటనే దొంగ నూతిలోనికి ఉరికాడు.
*నా ఆలోచన ఫలించింది! ఇప్పుడు నేను వెండి పెట్టెతో క్షేమంగా యింటికి పోవచ్చును” అనుకొని పరుగెత్తుకొంటూ యిల్లు చేరాడు గోవిందు.

Govindu’s Clever Idea
(Telugu Moral Story)
One day, Govindu’s father called him and handed him a small
silver box.
“Take this to your uncle in the next village,” he said.
“Start early and come back before it gets dark.”
Govindu didn’t waste any time. He set off right away and
reached his uncle’s house in about two hours. He gave him the silver box as
told. His aunt welcomed him warmly and served him delicious snacks and a hearty
meal.
After resting for a while, his uncle returned the empty
silver box and said, “I’ve taken what I need. You can go back now. But be
careful—there are thieves on the way.”
Govindu nodded and began walking home.
A Shadow on the Road
After some distance, he had a strange feeling. It seemed
like someone was following him.
He glanced back carefully. A man was walking behind him… and
keeping pace.
Govindu’s heart began to beat faster. He quickened his
steps. The man did the same.
Just then, they came across a well by the roadside. Govindu
walked toward it, pretending to drink water, while his mind raced for a
solution.
The man was getting closer.
Suddenly, an idea struck him.
He cried out loudly, “Oh no! What have I done? What will I
do now?”
The man hurried forward. “What happened, boy? Why are you
shouting?”
Govindu pretended to be upset. “When I leaned over to drink
water, my gold chain, ring, and watch slipped into the well! How can I go home
without them?”
The man’s eyes widened. Gold chain? Ring? Watch? That
sounded far more valuable than the small silver box in Govindu’s hand.
“Don’t worry,” the man said quickly. “You stay here. I’ll
jump in and get them for you.”
Without another thought, the greedy thief climbed into the
well.
The moment he disappeared from sight, Govindu grabbed the
silver box tightly and ran as fast as he could toward home.
By the time the thief realized he had been tricked, Govindu
was long gone.
Moral
Quick thinking and presence of mind can help us escape even
dangerous situations.
