God: My dear child, the time has come…
Soul: Already? I still had so many things I wanted to do…
God: But you must go, my child…
Soul asks… God answers
Soul: What’s in that box, Lord?
God: Everything in it belongs to you.
Soul: What belongs to me? My clothes, my money…?
God: No, nothing there is truly yours. They all belong to this Earth.
Soul: Then my memories?
God: No, they belong to time.
Soul: What about my talents?
God: No, they belong to circumstances.
Soul: What about my friends and relatives?
God: They belong to the path you traveled.
Soul: My spouse and children?
God: They belong to your heart.
Soul: So what is truly mine?
God: That which is imperishable… that is yours, it is the soul.

God: Empty.
The soul, heartbroken and tearful, asks God again…
Soul: So nothing here is truly mine?
God: Yes… nothing belongs to you.
Soul: Then what do I have?
God: Every moment you lived belongs to you.
Every moment you laughed fully is yours.
Every moment you did good to another is yours.
Every moment you showed compassion is yours.
Every moment you gave of yourself is yours.
Yes… all these moments are truly yours.
So, love every moment,
live each moment in joy and affection.
