కథా వివరణ:
1. భయంకర విరాధుడు - మొదటి పోరాటం:
దండకారణ్యంలోకి అడుగుపెట్టిన సీతారామలక్ష్మణులు ఋషుల వద్ద సెలవు తీసుకుని ముందుకు సాగుతుంటే కొంత దూరం వెళ్లాక ఒక మహాకాయుడైన భయంకరుడైన రాక్షసుడు అకస్మాత్తుగా వారిముందు ప్రత్యక్షమైనాడు.అతడే 'విరాధుడు'. వాడు అమాంతం సీతమ్మను ఎత్తుకుని పోవడానికి ప్రయత్నించాడు. రాముడు, లక్ష్మణుడు వాడి చేతులను నరికి, తీవ్రంగా పోరాడారు. కానీ వాడు చావలేదు."ఈ దానవుణ్ణి యుద్ధంలో చంపటం కుదిరేపని కాదు గనుక వీణ్ణి సజీవంగా భూస్థాపితం చేద్దాం. నేను వీడికి కాపలకాస్తుంటాను, నీవు త్వరగా ఒక గోతిని త్రవ్వు" అన్నాడు రాముడు.
లక్ష్మణుడు గోతిని త్రవ్వే సమయానికి విరధుడు తిరిగి స్పృహలోకి వచ్చి రామునితో "ఇప్పుడు నేను నిన్ను గుర్తిస్తున్నాను. వాస్తవానికి నేను తుంబురుడనే గంధర్వుణ్ణి. అప్సరసయైన రంభపట్ల నేను కామోద్వేగంతో ప్రవర్తించినందున కుబేరుడు నన్ను శపించి నీవల్ల నాకు విముక్తి కలిగేవరకు నన్ను రాక్షసుని కమ్మన్నాడు. నాకు శాపవిముక్తి కలిగించటానికై నన్నీ గోతిలో పూడ్చి పెట్టు. ఆ తర్వాత దయచేసి ఇక్కడకు పన్నెండుమైళ్ల దూరంలో నివసిస్తున్న శరభంగ మహర్షిని కలుసుకోవటానికి వెళ్ళు. నీవు ఆయనను చూసినపుడు ఆయన నీకు ఎంతో ప్రయోజనకరమైన సలహా యిస్తాడు" అని చెప్పాడు.
వాడిని ఒక పెద్ద గోతిలో పాతిపెట్టి అంతం చేశారు. చనిపోయే ముందు విరాధుడు తన నిజరూపమైన గంధర్వ రూపాన్ని పొంది రాముడిని స్తుతించాడు.
2. దండకారణ్య మునుల ప్రార్థన:
అక్కడి నుండి ప్రయాణిస్తూ వారు శరభంగ మహర్షి ఆశ్రమానికి చేరుకున్నారు.వారు ఋష్యాశ్రమానికి చేరేసరికి అక్కడ చక్రాలు నేలకానకుండా నిలిచిన ఒక దివ్యరథంపై స్వర్గాధిపతియైన దేవేంద్రుడు ఆసీనుడైవుండటం చూచి ఆశ్చర్యానికి లోనైనారు. ఇంద్రునితో పాటు ఇతర దేవతలు కూడా వచ్చి ఉన్నారు. ఆయన శరభంగునితో సంభాషిస్తూ ఉన్నాడు. హరితాశ్వాలచేత లాగబడే మరో దివ్యరథం గగనతలంలో వేచి ఉంది. అయితే అటు వస్తున్న రాముణ్ణి గమనించిన ఇంద్రుడు ఇతర దేవతలతో "భగవానుడైన రాముడు నన్ను ఇప్పుడే చూడగోరను. రావణసంహారం చేసిన తర్వాతనే ఆయన నన్ను చూడాలనుకుంటున్నాను" అని వేగంగా తన రథం ఎక్కి వెళ్ళి పోయాడు.
రాముడు ఆశ్రమం లోని వెళ్ళి శరభంగ మహర్షిని కలిశాడు."ఓ ఋషి సత్తమా! ఇక్కడకు ఇంద్రుడు ఏ కార్యార్థం వచ్చాడో దయచేసి మాకు చెప్పండి" అని అడిగాడు.
"కఠోరమైన తపస్సాధనలు ఆచరించి నేను సము పార్జించు కున్న పుణ్యంవల్ల బ్రహ్మలోకానికి నన్ను తీసుకువెళ్ళటానికై ఇంద్రుడు ఇక్కడకు రావటం జరిగింది. కాని నీవు సమీపంలోనే ఉన్నావని నాకు తెలిసినందున ఈ లోకాన్ని విడిచివెళ్ళేముందు నిన్ను (రాముణ్ణి) చూడగోరుతున్నానని స్వర్గాధిపతికి చెప్పాను” అని శరభంగుడు సమాధానమిచ్చాడు.
తాను ప్రవాసంలో ఉండేకాలంలో నివసించటానికి ఒక ప్రదేశాన్ని సూచించ వలసిందిగా రాముడు శరభంగుణ్ణి అభ్యర్థించాడు. ఋషి సమాధానమిస్తూ "ఓ భగవాన్, నీవు సుతీక్షణ మహర్షి వద్దకు వెళ్ళాలి. ఆయన నీకు అరణ్యంలోని అత్యంత ఆహ్లాదకరమైన ప్రదేశంలో తగిన నివాసాన్ని కల్పిస్తాడు.
ఓ రామా! నాకు సంబంధించినంతవరకు ఒక ప్రార్ధన ఉంది. దానిని నెరవేర్చమని వేడుకుంటున్నాను. నేను ఈ దేహాన్ని త్యజించవలసిన సమయం వచ్చింది. అందువల్ల నీ సన్నిధిలోనే నన్ను దేహత్యాగం చేయనివ్వు" అన్నాడు.
ఈ మాటలంటూ శరభంగుడు అగ్నిని రగిల్చి అందులో ఆజ్యాన్ని కుమ్మరించగా ఆ అగ్ని ఉజ్వలంగా మండింది. అంతట మంత్రోచ్చారణ చేస్తూ ఋషి అగ్ని ప్రవేశం చేయగా ఆయన దేహం కాలి భస్మమైపోయింది. ఆ పిమ్మట తక్షణమే శరభంగుడు యౌవనభరితమైన కళ్ళు చెదిరే తేజోమయ దేహంతో అగ్ని నుండి ఆవిర్భవించాడు. అంతట ఆయన బ్రహ్మలోకానికి అధిరోహించగా బ్రహ్మలోకవాసులు ఆయనను స్వాగతించారు.
ఆ తర్వాత అక్కడ సమావేశమైన ఋషులు రాముని వద్దకు వచ్చి "ఈ అరణ్యంలో నివసిస్తున్న మాలో చాలామందిని రాక్షసులు నిర్దాక్షిణ్యంగా చంపివేస్తున్నారు. మా యజ్ఞాలను నాశనం చేస్తున్నారు.మమ్మల్ని రక్షించే బాధ్యత నీదే" అని వేడుకున్నారు. రాముడు తన ధనస్సును చేతబట్టి, రాక్షస సంహారం చేసి మునులను రక్షిస్తానని ప్రతిజ్ఞ చేశాడు.

3. మునుల ఎముకల కుప్ప:
దారిలో రాముడు ఒక చోట పెద్ద పర్వతంలా ఉన్న ఎముకల కుప్పను చూశాడు. అవి రాక్షసులు తిన్న మునుల ఎముకలని తెలిసి రాముడి కళ్లు ఎర్రబడ్డాయి. "దండకారణ్యాన్ని రాక్షస రహితం చేస్తాను" అని లక్ష్మణుని సాక్షిగా శపథం పూనాడు.
4. సీతమ్మ సందేహం - రాముని సమాధానం:
మునులను రక్షిస్తానని రాముడు శపథం చేయడం చూసి సీతమ్మ, "రామా! మనకి ఎవరితోనూ వైరము లేదు కదా, ఎందుకు హింస చేయాలి?" అని అడిగింది. అప్పుడు రాముడు, "సీతా! ఆర్తులను రక్షించడం క్షత్రియ ధర్మం. నన్ను నమ్ముకున్న మునులను కాపాడటం నా బాధ్యత" అని ధర్మాన్ని వివరించాడు.

Story Summary:
As Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana journeyed deeper into the
Dandaka forest, they encountered a terrifying demon named Viradha. He suddenly
appeared and tried to abduct Sita. Rama and Lakshmana fought fiercely, severing
his arms, but he could not be killed by conventional means.
Realizing this, Rama instructed Lakshmana to dig a pit and
bury him alive. Before dying, Viradha revealed that he was originally a
Gandharva named Tumburu, cursed by Kubera due to his misconduct. He thanked
Rama for releasing him from the curse and advised him to meet Sage Sharabhanga.
Continuing their journey, they reached Sharabhanga’s
hermitage, where they witnessed Indra and other gods. However, Indra departed
before meeting Rama, expressing his wish to see him only after the defeat of
Ravana.
Sharabhanga explained that Indra had come to take him to
Brahmaloka due to his penance. But he chose to remain until he could see Rama.
After meeting Rama, Sharabhanga performed a sacred fire ritual and entered the
flames, relinquishing his body. He then emerged in a radiant divine form and
ascended to Brahmaloka.

Soon after, many sages approached Rama, pleading for
protection from demons who were destroying their sacrifices and killing them.
Rama vowed to protect them and eliminate the demons.
On their way, Rama saw a massive heap of bones belonging to
slain sages. Filled with righteous anger, he vowed to rid the forest of demons.
Sita, concerned, questioned Rama about engaging in violence
when they had no personal enmity. Rama explained that it is the duty of a
Kshatriya to protect the innocent and uphold dharma.
This episode marks the beginning of Rama’s mission to
destroy evil and protect righteousness in the forest.
