ఆశ్రమంలోని శిష్యులంతా అడవికెళ్ళిన శిష్యుని రాకకోసం ఎదురు చూస్తున్నారు. అతడు కొమ్మలు తెస్తే, అవి రాటలుగా ఉపయోగించి గుర్రానికి సాల నిర్మించాలని వారి యోచన.
శిష్యుడు వచ్చీరావడంతోనే, గురువుగారి పాదాలు పట్టుకొని “గురుదేవులు మన్నించాలి, ఈ రోజు చాలా దుర్ధినం. నేను నిజానికి మరణించాల్సింది” అంటూ జరిగిన సంగతంతా చెప్పి, “అ ప్రకారం ఆ మహానుభావుడు గొప్ప జ్యోతిష్యుడని నా బుద్ధి కుశలత వల్ల తెల్సుకోబట్టి మీ గురించి కూడా ఆయన్ను అడిగాను. వారు ఇలా చెప్పారు” అంటూ “కాళ్ళూ చేతులూ చల్లబడిపోతే మీరు మాకు దక్కరు గురువుగారో” అంటూ శోక్తాలు తీయసాగాడు.
ఆ మాటలు వింటూనే ఆయన స్పృహతప్పి పడిపోయారు. శిష్యులంతా గురువుగారి ముఖంమీద నీళ్ళుకొట్టి లేవదీశారు.
కాస్త తెప్పరిల్లాక గురువుగారు “నాయనలారా! ఆ మహానుభావుడెవరో నిజమే చెప్పి ఉండొచ్చు! ఎంతటి వారికైనా మరణాన్ని తప్పించుకో శక్యమా? అయినప్పటికీ మన జాగ్రత్తలో మనం ఉండాలి కదా! “శిరః పాద శీతలం" అని ఆయన చెప్పినందు చేత ఈరోజు నుంచీ తలకు స్నానం మానేస్తాను. తలమీద ఎటూ వెంట్రుకలు లేవు. గోష్పాద మంత పిలకమీద ఇన్ని పసుపునీళ్ళు చిలకరించి శుద్ధి చేసుకోవచ్చు! అలాగే పాదాలకు తడి తగలనీయకుండా చూడంది” అన్నారు.
గురువుగారి మాటని వేదవాక్యంలా పాటించే శిష్యుడొకడు “కాళ్ళు కడుక్కుంటే తడి అవుతుంది కనుక కాళ్ళకు పసుపునీళ్ళు జల్లుకోండి అన్నాడు.
“అదికాదురా అర్ధం! గురువుగారు కాళ్ళు కడుక్కోగానే తక్షణం ఏదైనా పొడి వస్త్రంతో ఆయన కాళ్ళు ఒత్తి తుడిచేయాలి” అని గురువమ్మగారు సెలవిచ్చారు.
అనంతరం... అంతా కలసి గుర్రపుసాల ఏర్పాట్లలో మునిగారు. రాటలు పాతారు.. పైకప్పుకి తాటాకులు ఎక్కడ నుంచి తేవాలి? ఊరి శివార్లలో తాటితోపు ఉంది. అక్కడికెళ్ళి అడిగితే, “చెట్టు ఎక్కగలిగే వారికి ఎన్ని తాటాకులైనా దొరక్కపోవడం అనేది ఉండదు” అని చెప్పారు పనిపాట్లు చేసుకొనే రైతు వర్గం వారు.
ఇంతకు ముందు కొమ్మ మీదనుంచి పడి, చావు తప్పిన శిష్య పరమాణువుని చెట్టెక్కమన్నారు. “నాకు అడ్డమైన చెట్లూ ఎక్కడమైతే వచ్చు! తాడివలె నిట్టనిలువు చెట్లు కష్టపడి ఎక్కినా దిగడం రాదు” అన్నాడు.
వాళ్ళ మాటలు విని అక్కడే వున్న ఓ శూద్ర యువకుడు జాలిపడి “సర్లెండి అయ్యవార్లూ! నాకేదో ఉల్లిపరక, ఊరగాయ బద్ద ఖర్చు ఇచ్చుకుంటే మీక్కావలసినన్ని తాటాకులు కోసిస్తా” అన్నాడు.
“ఆ పన్చేయ్యి బాబ్బాబు! నీకు పుణ్యం ఉంటుంది”. అంటూ పరమానందయ్య శిష్యులు ఆ యువకునికి పాదాబి వందనం చెయ్య బోయారు.
అతడు కాళ్ళు వెనక్కి లాగేసుకుంటూ “తప్పు అయ్యవార్లూ! కులానికి శూద్రుడినైనా, గుణానికి మాత్రం కాను. తమర్ని భూసురులంటారు. అంటే భూలోకాన దేవతల వంటివారు అన్నమాట! మీరు మాకు నమస్కరిస్తే, అది మాకు మన్నన కాదు. ఆయుక్షీణమని ధర్మశాస్త్రం. అంతేకాదు! మీబోటి వారిచేత పాద నమస్కారాలు చేయించుకుంటే స్తీ మూలకంగా ఆకస్మిక మరణం కూడా” అని సమాధానం చెప్పేసరికి “ఔరా! మనకే తెలీని విషయాలెన్ని తెలుసో ఈ కుర్రవాడికి.
అందుకే జ్ఞానం ఒకరి సొత్తు కాదన్న నిజాన్ని బ్రాహ్మణులమైన మనం ఒప్పుకుని తీరాలి” అంటూ తీర్మానించుకున్నారు.
“సరే అబ్బీ! నీకు గురువుగారితో చెప్పి, అంతో ఇంతో ఇప్పిస్తాం గానీ, తాటాకులు కొట్టిపెట్టు” అన్నారు.
అన్నీ అనుకూలించి, ఆ చిరకాలంలోనే పాక తయారైంది. కాని అందులోకి గుర్రాన్ని తోలగా, దాని దేహం అందులో ఇమిడింది కాదు! ఇరుగ్గా ఉండడంతో, వేసిన పాక వేసినట్టే కూలిపోయింది. దానికి సాలలో నివశించే యోగం లేదని సరిపుచ్చుకున్నారు గురుశిష్య సమూహం.

The Horse Without a Proper Stall
One day, all the students at the ashram were waiting for a
friend who had gone into the forest. He was supposed to bring branches so they
could build a proper stall for the horse.
When he returned, he bowed to Paramanandayya and
said, “Teacher! Today was a very unlucky day. I almost got hurt or even died! I
asked a great astrologer about it, and he said, ‘If your feet and hands get
wet, you may face danger.’”
Hearing this, the students and teacher were careful. Paramanandayya
said, “Even if someone predicts danger, we must still take care of ourselves.
From now on, I will avoid sitting in water and take care of my feet and hands
carefully.”
One student suggested, “We can pour turmeric water on the teacher’s feet so they stay dry and safe.”

The teacher’s wife added, “Better still, as soon as the feet get wet, wipe them
with a dry cloth immediately.”
Soon, all the students began preparing a proper stall for
the horse. They made ropes, walls, and the roof. They even went to nearby
villages to get more materials. Farmers and villagers helped them, saying,
“Anyone who can climb the trees can get as many materials as they need.”
One clever young man offered to cut the branches needed for
the stall in exchange for some payment. Paramanandayya’s students bowed
respectfully, thanking him. The young man said wisely, “It does not matter if I
am from a lower caste; my skill is what matters. Even the gods respect talent.
If you bow to me out of ignorance, it may bring danger.”
Finally, after much work, the stall was ready. But when they
tried to put the horse inside, they realized that the stall was too small. The
horse couldn’t fit comfortably. The students agreed, “This stall was made
carefully, but it’s not suitable for the horse. It doesn’t have the right space
for it to stay properly.”
Moral of the Story:
No matter how much effort we put in, we must also make
sure the solution fits the need. Planning and thinking carefully is as
important as hard work.
