శొంఠికొమ్ము వైద్యం
గ్రామగ్రామానా ఉన్న అనేకానేక శిష్యకోటిలో రామావధానులు ఒక్కడు. అతడు అప్పుడప్పుడూ పరమానందయ్య గారిని సందర్శిస్తూ నాలుగు మంచి ముక్కలు చెప్పించుకుని వెళ్తూందేవాడు.
నా అనేవాళ్లేవరూ లేని అవధాన్లుకి అన్యాయార్జితమైన ఆస్థి చాలా ఉంది. ఒకసారి తన ఇంటికి దయచేయమని అతడు గురువుగార్ని ఎప్పుడూ కోరుతూండడం, ప్రతీసారీ అలాగే అంటూ పరమానందయ్య వాయిదా వెయ్యడం జరుగుతూ వస్తోంది.
ఇక అంత్యదశ సమీపించడంతో..... అవధాన్లు తాను రాలేక గురువుగార్నే శిష్యసమేతంగా రమ్మని కబురంపాడు. ఇక తప్పదని బయల్దేరారు అందరూ.
వెళ్ళాక వారూహించని విధంగా అవధాన్లు కన్నీళ్ళ పర్యంతమై “నేనిక బతకను గురువుగారూ!” అంటూ బావురుమన్నాడు. “భయపడకు” అని ధైర్యం చెప్పి “నా శిష్యులలో కొందర్ని వైద్యంలో పరిపూర్జులను చేశాను. వారి వైద్యంతో నువ్వు ఇంచక్కాలేచి తిరగ్గలవు” అన్నారు పరమానందయ్య,
వైద్యంలో ఒకేఒక్క అంశం తెలిసిన నలుగుర్నీ అవధానికి వైద్యం చెయ్యమని పురమాయించారు. ఒకడు శొంఠిపొడుని మాత్రలుగా కట్టి ఇచ్చాడు. ఇంకొకడు శొంఠకొమ్ము గంధం అరగదీసి అవధానికి ఒళ్ళంతా పట్టించాడు. ఇంకొక శిష్యుడు శొంఠి కషాయం ఆరారా పట్టించసాగాడు.
మరొక శిష్యుడు నిమ్మకాయంత శొంఠి ముద్దవలె నూరి నదినెత్తిన పట్టు వేశాడు. ఈ యావత్ శొంఠి వైద్యం అపారమైన వేడిమిని పుట్టించి, అవధాని హాహాకారాలు చేయసాగాడు. “చచ్చాను మొర్రో” అని గోల పెట్టసాగాడు.

“ఎంత అరచి గీ పెట్టినా, చివరికి మీ ప్రాణాలు మాత్రం ఎటూ పోనివ్వం! మీ దేహంలోనే మీ ప్రాణాల్ని బందీలుగా చేస్తాం!” అంటూ అవధాని నవరంధ్రాల్లో శొంఠిముద్ద కూరారు పదిమంది శిష్యులూ కలిసి. ఎప్పుడో జరగాల్సిన పని తక్షణమే జరిగి అవధాని హరీమన్నాడు.
శొంఠకొమ్ములు నాణ్యమైనవి దొరక్కపోవడం వల్లనే ఆయన ప్రాణాలు పోయాయని, లేకుంటే తప్పకుండా ప్రాణాలు నిలబడేవని శిష్యులు వాపోయారు. పరమానందయ్య వారితో ఏకీభవించారు.

The Ginger Treatment
In a village far away, there lived a clever man named Avadhanam.
He often visited Paramanandayya and his students to learn and share
stories. One day, Avadhanam became very sick and feared he might not survive.
Seeing his worry, Paramanandayya said, “Don’t be
afraid! Some of my students are very skilled in medicine. They will take care
of you.”

Each student prepared a special ginger treatment.
- One
made ginger tablets.
- Another
ground ginger with fragrant herbs and applied it all over Avadhanam.
- A
third made a ginger decoction.
- The
fourth combined ginger with lemon to make a strong medicine.
The treatments were very strong, and Avadhanam shouted and
groaned, “Oh no! I might die!” But the students encouraged him, saying, “No
matter how strong it feels, your life is safe. We will take care of you!”
Finally, the treatment worked. Avadhanam recovered and
praised the students for their skill. The students explained that only good
ingredients and proper care could save him. Paramanandayya agreed with them,
happy that his students’ efforts had succeeded.
Moral of the Story:
Skill and careful effort, when combined with the right
resources, can save lives and solve even difficult problems.
