“గురుదేవులు దర్చంగా, ఠీవీగా గుర్రంమీద వెళ్తూ ఉంటే, అప్పుడు చూడాలి వారిదర్జా” అంటూ శిష్యులు రెచ్చగొట్టింది లగాయితు, గుర్రపు స్వారీ మీద నుంచి పరమానందయ్యకు మనస్సు మళ్ళింది కాదు.
ఓ రోజున కాస్త దూరపు గ్రామస్తులు శిష్యులతో సహా తమ గ్రామాన్ని పునీతం చెయ్యాలంటూ పరమానందయ్య గారికి కబురంపారు. ఇకనేం? ఎలాగూ దూర ప్రయాణం కనుక “గుర్రపుస్వారీ ఇహం శ్రేష్టం అని శిష్యులు మరోసారి రెచ్చగొట్టడంతో, తానెంతో మొహమాటపడి ఒప్పుకుంటున్నట్లుగా సరే అన్నాడాయన.
అదే మహద్భాగ్యమన్నట్లుగా వారంతా పరమానందయ్యను భద్రంగా గుర్రంమీద కూర్చోబెట్టి వెనుకనే వాళ్ళు పదిమందీ అనుసరించసాగారు.
గుర్రానికి దాణా అందించడాని కొకరు, కళ్ళెం పుచ్చుకుని లాగే వారొకరు, అదిలించే వారొకరు.... ఇలా సాగుతున్నదా ప్రయాణం. ఇంతలో ఓ చోట పిల్లకాలువ ఒకటి దాటబోయిన ఆ గుడ్డి గుర్రం దభేల్ మని కూలబడింది: ఆ గుర్రంతో పాటు గురువు గారు సైతం కూలబడి పోయారు.
అంత వృద్ధాప్యంలో అమాంతం ఊహించని రీతిగా పడేసరికి పాపం! పరమానండయ్య నడుం జారిపోయింది.
“ఓరి నాయనో! చచ్చానర్రా! లేవదీయండర్రా”.... అంటూ శోకాలు తీస్తుంటే, వెనుక కాళ్ళమీద నిలబడి ముందరి కాళ్ళు గాల్లో 'పైకత్తి సకిలిస్తున్న గుర్రం ఛాటికి శిష్యులు చెల్లా చెదురై తలొక మూలా నక్కారు.
కొంతసేపటికది శాంతించాక నెమ్మదిగా ఒక్కొక్కరే పరమానందయ్య గార్ని సమీపించారు.
గురువుగారికి చెయ్యి అందించి ఒకరు కాళ్ళుపట్టి ఇద్దరు నడుం దగ్గర ఎత్తి పట్టుకుని నలుగురూ పడ్డచోటు నుంచి లేవదీసి చెట్టుక్రింద విశ్రమింప జేసి, అక్కడే దొరికిన వెడల్పాటి ఆకులతో గాలి విసరసాగారు.
ఇంకో ఇద్దరు నడుంపట్టు ఉపశమింప జేయడానికి ఆకు పసర్ల నిమిత్తం, చెట్ల పొదలలో వెదకసాగారు. అంతెత్తు నుంచి గుర్రంమీద కెగరేసి పపేయడంతో బైటిక్కనిపించని విధంగా లోలోపల ఆయన తుంటి ఎముక విరిగగిపోయి, కొద్దిసేపటికే బుసబుసమని వాపు పొంగుకొచ్చింది. ఆయన బాధ వర్ణనాతీతం. నిల్చోలేక, కూర్చోలేక, పడుకోలేక నానా అవస్తా పడుతుంటే, గురువు గారి బాధ చూడలేక శిష్యుల్లో ఇద్దరు మరీ సున్నిత మనస్కులు కళ్ళనీళ్ళు పెట్టుకుని దారిన పోయే వారినల్లా “కనికరించి కాస్త వైద్యులెవరన్నాఉంటే తెలియజేయండి బాబూ” అంటూ 'బ్రతిమాలుకో సాగారు.
ఎట్టకేలకు ఆ సాయంత్రానికి వారి అదృష్టమో; గురువు గారి పట్ల దైవం చూపిన కరుణతో గాని పొరుగూరి సంచికట్టు వైద్య చింతామణి అటువైపుగా వస్తూ, పరమానందయ్య గారిని గుర్తించి, సంచిలోంచి ఏదో లేపనం తీసి ఆయనకు బాగా పట్టించి, కాస్త లేచేందుకు వీలుగా ఉపశమనం కలిగించాడు.
ఈలోగా గుడ్డిగుర్రం ఇంకో విపత్తు తెచ్చిపెట్టింది. శిష్యులంతా గురువుగారికి ఉపచారాలు చేస్తూ, నానా హైరానా పడుతూంటే ఎప్పుడు వెళ్ళిందోగాని చల్లగా పక్కనున్న చేల్లోకి వెళ్ళి మేయసాగింది. ఆ చేను గల రైతు ఊరుకుంటాడా? ఆ గుర్రాన్ని పట్టుకుని చెట్టుకు కట్టేశాడు.
“పిల్లకాలువలో దాని ప్రతిబింబమే అదిచూసి జడుసుకొని ఉంటుంది. లేకపోతే సగం దూరం ప్రయాణం సజావుగానే సాగిందికదా!” అని తేల్చారు శిష్యులందరూ కలసి.
వాళ్ళ అభిప్రాయంతో పరమానందయ్య ఏకీభవించక తప్పలేదు. ఎందుకంటే ఇంకా ప్రయాణించ వలసిన దూరం దాదాపు సగం వరకూ ఉంది. గుర్రం మీద కూర్చుని నడుముకు పై పంచెతో కలిపి గుర్రానికి కట్టేసుకుంటే, ఈసారి పడిపోకుండా ఉండొచ్చని బుద్ధిశాలురైన శిష్యులు ఆ విషయం గురువుగారికి సూచించారు.
చూడబోతే అదే నయంలా ఉంది. లేకుంటే ఈ నడుం నొప్పితో నడిచి అంతేదూరం గ్రామం ప్రయాణించడం కష్టం అని పరమానందయ్యకు కూడా బోధ పడింది. కానీ, అప్పటికే ఆయనకు గుర్రంమీద విరక్తి కలిగిపోయింది.
తీరా వెతికితే, గుర్రం అక్కడలేదు. పుంతలో ఎక్కడో చెట్టుకు కట్టేసి ఉండడం ఓ శిష్యుని కంట బడింది. అక్కడికెళ్ళి అతడ్ని దబాయించారు.
ఆ రైతు మండిపడి “ఏడ్చినట్లుంది నాచేనంతా నష్టపరచింది. పరిహారం ఇస్తే తప్ప గుర్రాన్ని వదిలేది లేదు” అని తిరగబడ్డాడు.
స్థలం కాని స్థలంలో పేచీలెందుకు? మనవద్ద ఉన్న పది వరహాలూ పడేస్తే సరి! అతదే ఊరుకుంటాడని పరమానందయ్యగారు అనడంతో, అలాగే కానిచ్చారా శిష్యులు.
అతి ప్రయాసమీద: ప్రయాణం కొనసాగించి ఆగ్రామం చేరుకున్నారు.

Teacher’s Ride on the Horse
One day, the wise teacher Paramanandayya was asked by
villagers to visit a distant village with his students. The students, excited,
suggested, “Teacher, riding a horse will make the journey faster and more fun!”
After some persuasion, Paramanandayya agreed. He
carefully sat on the horse, and his ten students followed behind him, walking
safely. Some carried food for the horse, while others helped guide it along the
way.
As they were traveling, they came to a small stream. The
young horse slipped on the wet ground, and Paramanandayya fell off!

“Oh no! Teacher, are you hurt?” the students cried, rushing
to help. They gently lifted him, supported him, and guided him under a tree to
rest. Some even fanned him with large leaves to keep him comfortable, while
others searched nearby for soothing herbs.
Meanwhile, the mischievous young horse wandered off. The
students chased it, but it ran into a farmer’s field. The farmer caught the
horse and tied it safely.
The students realized, “We need to secure the horse
properly, or accidents will keep happening.” They explained to Paramanandayya,
and he agreed. With some ropes tied safely and support given around his waist,
he was able to continue riding without falling.
The journey was still long, but with teamwork and care, the
students helped their teacher safely reach the village.
Moral of the Story:
Teamwork, careful planning, and helping others in need
make even difficult journeys safe and successful.
