పరమానందయ్యగారు శిష్యులతో మఠానికి చేరుకున్నారన్నమాటే గాని ఆయనకు జ్యోతిష్యుడి “శిరఃపాద శీతలం, ప్రాప్తి జీవనాశం” అనే రెండు ముక్కలూ బాగా గుర్తిండి పోయి, దిగులు ఆవహించ సాగింది. అందుకు కారణం చెరువులో దిగినందువల్ల పాదాలు తడిసిపోవడమే గాదు! ఊబిలో దిగబడడంతో మొత్తం దేహామే చల్లబడి పోయింది.

ఓరోజు శిష్యులందర్నీ కూర్చుండబెట్టి, తన దిగులును వారితో పంచుకొనే సరికి వారికీ భోరున ఏడుపు తన్నుకొచ్చింది.

పరమానందయ్య వారినందర్నీ ఓదార్చి “నాయనలారా! విచారించకంది! ఈ భూప్రపంచం మీద ఎన్నిరోజులు బ్రహ్మదేవుడు రాసిపెట్టి ఉంటే, అన్ని రోజులూ జీవించాల్సిందే! దీనికి చింతించి ప్రయోజనం లేదు. కనుక అశాశ్వతమైన నా ప్రాణం గురించి మీరు విచారించవద్దు. మిగిలిపోయిన కొద్దో గొప్పో విద్యల్ని నేను పోయే లోపుగా మీకు బోధిస్తాను” అన్నారు. 

పిడుగులాంటి గురువుగారి నీరసపు పలుకులు వినేసరికి శిష్యబృందానికీ నీరసంతో పాటు, జీవితమంటే విరక్తి కలిగిపోయింది. అందరూ కలసి ఓ చెట్టు క్రింద కూర్చున్నారు.

గురువుగారి గుణగణాలు, వారి తెలివితేటలు గురించే మాట్లాడుకుంటూ, “మన దురదృష్టం కొద్దీ మన గురువుగారు ఏమన్నా అయిపోతే, మనకు ఇలాంటి గురువుగారు మరిక దొరకరు! మన అదృష్టం ఎలా రాసిపెట్టి ఉందో కదా!” అంటూ అవేదన చెందసాగారు.

ఇంతలో ఓ అందమైన చిన్నది, ఆ చుట్టుప్రక్కల పూలుకోయాలని పూలసజ్జ చేబూని అటువైపు వచ్చింది. శిష్యులంతా ఆ అమ్మాయి వైపు చూసి, ఎవరికి తోచిన వికారపు చేష్టలు వారు చేయసాగారు.

పళ్ళు ఇకిలించే వాడొకడు, గుర్రంలా సకిలించే వాడొకడు, కళ్ళు చిట్లించే వాడొకడు. తల కాస్సేపు అడ్డంగా అంతలోనే నిలువుగా ఊపే వాడొకడు..... ఇలా ఉన్న శిష్యుల అవస్థ చూసేసరికి, ఆ పిల్లకి ఫక్కున నవ్వొచ్చింది. గలగలా నవ్వేసి వెళ్ళిపోయిందా పిల్ల.

అప్పుడు మొదలైంది శిష్యుల మధ్య గలాటా. ఆపిల్ల నన్నే చూసి నవ్విందంటే, నన్నే చూసి నవ్విందని ఎవరికివారే అనుకుంటే ఫర్వాలేదు గాని... అది తగాదాగా మారి సిగపట్లదాకా వెళ్ళింది.

పరమానందయ్య గారికి విషయం బోధపడక, శిష్యులిలా ఒకరి పిలక పుచ్చుకొని ఒకరు ఎందుకు తన్నుకుంటున్నదీ అర్ధంకాక, ఆరాతీస్తే “పిల్లనవ్వు' అని తేలింది.

“ఓహో! ఇదా సంగతి.ఇప్పుడే ఆ సంగతి తేల్చేస్తా' నంటూ, గురువుగారు ఆ పిల్ల దగ్గరికెళ్ళి “ఎవర్ని చూసి నవ్వేవు చిట్టితల్లీ? చెప్పమ్మా! వాళ్ళు తన్నుకు ఛస్తున్నారు” అంటూ అమాయకంగా అడిగే సరికి ఆ పిల్లకి ఇంకా నవ్వు వచ్చింది.

“మీ శిష్యుల పేర్లు నాకు తెలీదు. అంతా కలిసి రకరకాల కోతి చేష్టలు చేస్తుంటే, అందులో ఒకాయన అచ్చం కోతిలాగానే తోచాడు నాకు. దాంతో నాకు నవ్వాగింది కాదు” అని జవాబు చెప్పి అక్కడ్నించి నవ్వుకుంటూ వెళ్ళింది.

ఆమాటనే గురువుగారు తన శిష్యులతో అనేసరికి, ఈసారి వాళ్ళమధ్య ఇంకో తగువు ప్రారంభమైంది. “నేనే కోతిని అంటే నేనే కోతిని” అంటూ వాళ్ళిలా కొత్త పల్లవి అందుకొని కొట్టుకునే సరికి “ఓరి వానరాధములారా! అంతా కోతులే! మీ అందర్నీ చూసి నవ్వింది. మీలో తక్కువ వాళ్ళెవరూ లేరూ” అని సర్ది చెప్పాక గాని, పరమానందయ్య శిష్యులు శాంతించలేదు.

The Little Girl and the Smile

(A Story of Paramanandaiah and His Students)

One day, Paramanandaiah, a wise teacher, returned to his monastery with his students. But he was very worried.

An astrologer had once told him,
“Cold head and cold feet mean danger to life.”

Recently, Paramanandaiah had stepped into a pond. Not only were his feet wet — his whole body had become very cold! He remembered the astrologer’s words and became very sad.

The Teacher’s Sadness

One day, he gathered all his students and shared his fear.

As soon as the students heard him speak sadly, they all started crying loudly.

Paramanandaiah comforted them and said:

“My dear children, do not worry. We live only as many days as God has written for us. There is no use in being afraid. Life is not permanent. So, before I leave this world, I will teach you whatever knowledge I have left.”

Hearing these weak and sad words from their strong teacher made the students even more upset. They lost interest in everything.

They all went and sat under a tree, talking only about their teacher’s greatness.

“If something happens to our guru, we will never find another teacher like him,” they said sadly.

The Little Girl’s Laughter

Just then, a beautiful little girl came that way to pick flowers.

The students saw her. Instead of behaving properly, each one started acting silly!

• One showed his teeth strangely.
• One made sounds like a horse.
• One twisted his eyes.
• Another shook his head in funny ways.

Seeing all this foolish behavior, the little girl burst out laughing loudly and walked away.

The Big Fight

Now the real trouble started!

Each student thought,
“She laughed at me!”

Soon, they began arguing.

“No! She laughed at me!”
“No! She laughed at me!”

The argument became so big that they even started hitting each other.

Paramanandaiah did not understand what was happening. He asked them why they were fighting.

“It’s about the girl’s smile!” they said.

So the teacher went to the little girl and gently asked:

“Dear child, whom did you laugh at? My students are fighting because of that.”

The girl laughed again and said:

“I don’t know their names. All of them were behaving like monkeys. But one of them looked exactly like a real monkey! That’s why I laughed!”

She laughed and ran away.

Another Funny Fight

The teacher came back and told his students what she had said.

Instead of stopping the fight, it started again!

“I am the monkey!”
“No, I am the monkey!”

They began fighting once more.

Finally, Paramanandaiah shouted:

“Oh you foolish monkey-like boys! She laughed at all of you! None of you behaved any better than the others!”

Only then did the students calm down.

👉 When we behave foolishly, people laugh at us — not because they hate us, but because of our actions.
👉 Instead of fighting over small things, we should improve ourselves.
👉 Friendship is more important than ego.

రమేశ్ ఆలోచించాడు, “నేరుగా వేట వలన అది ఎక్కడో పోతుంది. కానీ నేనేం చేస్తే, అది నా చేతిలోకి వస్తుందో?” అనీ. అప్పుడు అతను ఒక మోసపూరిత ప్రణాళిక రూపొందించాడు. జింకకు సులభంగా కనిపించే చోట ఒక పావుగుడ్డ చీకి పెట్టి, దానిని చూడగానే దానిని వదిలిపెట్టిపోవాలని అనుకున్నాడు.

కానీ ఆ జింక కేవలం ప్రాణాలు కోసం పరుగు వేస్తోంది. రమేశ్ దాన్ని కబ్జా చేసేందుకు ప్రయత్నించగా, జింక కాస్త గట్టిగా రోసగా ఊరుకోగలిగింది. భేట్టాళ అట్టెకట్టుగా, చెరటలో కూర్చుని నవ్వుతూ, రమేశ్ దగ్గరకు వచ్చాడు:

“రమేశ్, నీ ప్రయత్నం చూసి నాకు చాలా ఆశ్చర్యమయింది. కానీ ఒక విషయం తెలుసుకో—వేట అంటే శక్తి మాత్రమే కాదు, న్యాయం, ధైర్యం, నిజాయితీ కూడా అవసరం. నువ్వు మోసపూరితంగా వేట చేస్తే, నిజానికి ఏ ఫలితం రాదు.”

The Hunter and the Deer

Once upon a time, in a village surrounded by green forests, there lived a hunter named Ramesh.

Ramesh was brave and strong. But he was also a little selfish. He loved hunting very much. Every morning, he carried his bow, arrows, and knife, and went into the forest.

The Fast Little Deer

One day, while walking in the forest, Ramesh saw a small, beautiful deer.

The deer was very fast. It ran like the wind!

Ramesh thought,
“I am the best hunter. I must catch this deer.”

He ran after it, but no matter how hard he tried, he could not catch it.

A Wrong Plan

Ramesh began to think.

“If I chase it directly, it will escape. What trick can I use to catch it?”

So he made a clever but dishonest plan. He placed food in an open place, hoping the deer would come near it and get trapped.

Suddenly, a mysterious wise man named Bhetala appeared and sat on a tree branch, smiling.

He said,
“Ramesh, I saw your effort. But remember — hunting is not only about strength. It also needs fairness, courage, and honesty. If you try to win by cheating, you will never truly succeed.”

Ramesh did not listen at first.
“I will catch it somehow!” he said proudly.

But the deer disappeared deep into the forest.

Understanding the Truth

That evening, Ramesh realized he had failed.

Bhetala appeared again and said gently,

“You cannot achieve real success through cheating. Honesty is stronger than physical strength. When you act with fairness, courage, and truth, success will come naturally. Where there is honesty, there is peace, happiness, and respect.”

This time, Ramesh listened carefully.

He thought deeply about the words.

A Change of Heart

Ramesh decided to let the deer live freely. He stopped using tricks. Instead of hunting carelessly, he began respecting the forest and its animals.

Months passed.

People in the village began to respect Ramesh. They said,

“He is brave, honest, and patient.”

The deer was no longer afraid. It lived peacefully in the forest.

Ramesh finally understood:

“Strength alone is not enough. True strength comes from honesty, humility, and patience.”
