నేను... నాది.....

ఒక రాజు ఓ జ్ఞాని వద్దకు వెళ్లి.. "నేను ప్రశాంతంగా ఉండలేకపోతున్నాను" అన్నాడు..

"నువ్వు నీ బాధ్యతలు సరిగ్గా నిర్వర్తించడం లేదా.." అని అడిగారు ఆ జ్ఞాని..

"మా రాజ్యానికి శత్రు భయం లేదు. దొంగల భయం లేదు. మా రాజ్యంలో పన్నులు తక్కువే. న్యాయ వ్యవస్థ కూడా బాగుంది. ఎక్కడా ఎవరికీ అన్యాయం జరగదు. ప్రజలందరూ ఆనందంగా ఉంటున్నారు. కానీ నాకే ప్రశాంతత లేదు. నేను ఏం చెయ్యాలి" అని రాజు ప్రశ్నించాడు.

"సరే నీ బాధ అర్ధమైంది. నేనొకటి చెప్తాను. అలా చెయ్యి. నీ రాజ్యాన్ని నాకు ఇచ్చేసే" అన్నారు జ్ఞాని." అంతకన్నా ఇంకేం కావాలి.. "తీసుకోండి.. ఈ క్షణమే ఇచ్చేస్తున్నాను నా రాజ్యాన్ని" చెప్పాడు రాజు.

"సరే నాకిచ్చావు. నువ్వేం చేస్తావు.." జ్ఞాని అడిగారు. "నేను ఎక్కడికైనా వెళ్లి అక్కడ ఏదో ఒక పని చేసుకుంటూ బతుకుతాను" అన్నాడు రాజు.

"ఎక్కడికో వెళ్ళడం ఎందుకు.. ఇక్కడే నా వద్దే నా ప్రతినిధిగా ఉండి నువ్వు చెయ్యవలసిన పనులు చెయ్యి. ఎందుకంటే నీకు పరిపాలన తెలుసు. చెయ్యగల సమర్దుడివి. ఓ ఏడాది తర్వాత వచ్చి లెక్కలు వగైరా చూస్తాను" అని చెప్పారు జ్ఞాని.

ఒక సంవత్సరం గడిచింది. జ్ఞాని రాజుని చూడటానికి వచ్చారు. రాజు మొహంలో ఆనందం కనిపిస్తోంది. ఎక్కడా ఆవ గింజంత దిగులు కనిపించడం లేదు. జ్ఞానిని సాదరంగా ఆహ్వానించి సపర్యలు చేసి లెక్కలు చూపించాడు రాజు.

"ఆ లెక్కలు అలా పక్కన పెట్టు గానీ నువ్వు ఇప్పుడు ఎలా ఉన్నావు" అడిగారు జ్ఞాని. "హాయిగా ఉన్నాను. కావలసినంత ప్రశాంతత అనుకోండి. మునుపెప్పుడు ఇంత హాయిగా లేను. మీకు నా ధన్యవాదాలు" అన్నాడు రాజు.

"సరేగానీ పూర్వం నువ్వు చేసిన పనులకు, ఇప్పుడు నువ్వు చేస్తున్న పనులకు ఏవైనా తేడాలు తెలిసాయా" అని అడిగారు జ్ఞాని. "లేదు.. అప్పుడు చేసే పనులే ఇప్పుడు కూడా చేస్తున్నాను" రాజు సమాధానమిచ్చాడు.

"అప్పుడు ఎందుకు మానసిక ఒత్తిడికి లోనయ్యావు.. ఇప్పుడు ఆ ఒత్తిడి లేదా.." అని జ్ఞాని అడగ్గా రాజు అసలు విషయం తెలిసి జ్ఞాని వంక చూసాడు.

అప్పుడు జ్ఞాని ఇలా అన్నారు...

"అప్పట్లో నువ్వు ఇది నా పని.. నా బాధ్యత.. అని ఆలోచించావు. ఇప్పుడు నువ్వు ఇది నాది కాదు. నేనిక్కడ కేవలం ఒక ప్రతినిధిని అనుకున్నావు. ఆ మనసే అన్నింటికీ మూలం. నేను అనే ఆలోచన వచ్చేటప్పుడల్లా ఆన్ని ఒత్తిడులూ, సమస్యలూ నీ చుట్టూ సుడులు తిరుగుతుంటాయి. అలా కాకుండా ఈ ప్రపంచం నాది కాదు. ఈ దేహం నాది కాదు. ఈ ఊపిరి నాది కాదు. ఇవన్నీ నాకు ఇచ్చినవే తప్ప నా సొంతం కావు.. అని నువ్వు గ్రహిస్తే సమస్యలన్నీ బాధలన్నీ పారిపోతాయి. ఈ మానసిక స్థితితోనే నువ్వు పరిపాలించు. నీ విధులు నువ్వు సాగించు. నీకు కావలసినంత ప్రశాంతత లభిస్తుంది"...

“Me” and “Mine”

A Stress Relief Story – The King and the Mystic

Once, a king went to a wise mystic.

He said sadly,
“I am not able to live peacefully. My mind is always disturbed.”

The mystic asked,
“Are you not doing your duties properly?”

The king replied,
“Our kingdom has no enemies. There are no thieves. Taxes are low. Justice is fair. No one is treated wrongly. My people are happy. Everything is fine… except my mind. I have no peace. What should I do?”

The mystic thought for a moment and said,
“If that is the case, give your kingdom to me.”

The king immediately said,
“Take it! From this moment, the kingdom is yours.”

The mystic smiled and asked,
“Now that the kingdom is mine, what will you do?”

The king answered,
“I will go somewhere else and do some work to earn my living.”

The mystic said,
“Why go anywhere? Stay here. Rule the kingdom as my representative. You know how to govern well. Do the same work as before. After one year, I will come and check.”

The king agreed.

One Year Later

After a year, the mystic returned.

This time, the king’s face was bright and cheerful. There was no sign of worry. He welcomed the mystic respectfully and showed him all the accounts.

The mystic asked,
“Forget the accounts. Tell me, how are you feeling now?”

The king smiled and said,
“I am very peaceful. I have never felt this relaxed before. Thank you.”

The mystic asked,
“Are you doing any different work now compared to before?”

The king replied,
“No. I am doing the same duties.”

“Then why were you stressed before, and why are you peaceful now?” asked the mystic.

The king suddenly understood.

The Mystic’s Teaching

The mystic said gently,

“Earlier, you thought — This is my kingdom. My responsibility. My burden.
Now, you think — This is not mine. I am only a representative doing my duty.

That small change in thinking made a big difference.

Whenever you think ‘I’ and ‘mine,’ stress and fear surround you.
But when you realize — This world is not mine. This body is not mine. Even this breath is not mine. Everything is given to me for some time — then the burden becomes lighter.

Do your duties sincerely, but without the feeling of ownership. Then you will always have peace.”

From that day on, the king ruled wisely — without stress, without ego, and with a calm heart.

• Stress comes from thinking “This is mine.”
• Peace comes from doing your duty without ego or attachment.
• When we let go of “I” and “mine,” the mind becomes calm.
