వింధ్య పర్వతాల్లో ఒక దట్టమైన అడవి ఉండేది. కాకులు దూరని ఆ అడవిలో అనేక జంతువులు, పక్షులు తరతరాలుగా స్థిర నివాసం ఏర్పరచుకొని ఉండేవి. ఆ అడవి మధ్యలో ఒక సరస్సు ఉండేది. ఆ సరస్సుకు దగ్గరగా ఉన్న గుహలో ఒక రాక్షసి, తన పిల్లతో సహా నివసించేది. ఈ రెండూ చాలా మంచివి. ఏనాడూ ఒక్క ప్రాణికి కూడా అపకారం చేసి ఎరుగవు. మిగిలిన జంతువుల లాగే, వాటి మానాన అవి జీవిస్తూ ఉండేవి. పిల్ల రాక్షసికి తను పుట్టిన ఆ అడవి అన్నా, అక్కడి వాతావరణం అన్నా చాలా ఇష్టం. అమ్మ రాక్షసికి తన పిల్ల అంటే ప్రాణం.
ఒకసారి పిల్ల రాక్షసి సరస్సు ఒడ్డున కూర్చొని, కాళ్ళు నీళ్ళలోకి చాపుకొని ఆడుకుంటున్నది, రోజూలాగే. చుట్టూ వాతావరణం బాగున్నది- వసంతం వచ్చింది. పూలు వికసించి, గాలికి ఊగుతున్నై. పక్షులు కువకువలాడుతున్నై. ప్రకృతి సోయగాలను చూస్తున్న పిల్లరాక్షసి మైమరచి పోతున్నది.
అకస్మాత్తుగా తన మీద ఏదో నీడ పడినట్లై, వెనక్కి తిరిగి చూసింది అది- అక్కడో వింత ప్రాణి నిలబడి ఉన్నది, తనకేసే చూస్తూ. రెండు కాళ్ళు- రెండు కాళ్లమీద నిలబడి ఉన్నదది, అచ్చం రాక్షసుల లాగే. కానీ దాని తలమీద కొమ్ములు లేవు- ఏదో కప్పుకొని ఉన్నది. కోరలు లేవు- నోటి లోపలికే పోయినట్లున్నై, మరి.
పిల్ల రాక్షసికి భయం వేసింది. గబుక్కున లేచి నిలబడి దానివైపే చూస్తూ కదలకుండా ఉండిపోయింది ఒక్క క్షణం.
వింతజీవి దాని వెంట పడింది, అరుచుకుంటూ. దాని చేతిలో ఉన్న కట్టె ఆగి ఆగి "టు..శ్..శ్..ష్" అని శబ్దం చేస్తున్నది. రాక్షసి పిల్ల ఇక వెనక్కి తిరిగి చూడకుండా పరుగు తీసింది, వింతజీవికి అందకుండా పొదలలోకీ, తుప్పలలోకీ పరుగెత్తిపోయింది.
అలా పరుగెత్తుతుంటే దానికి ఏనుగు ఎదురైంది. "కాపాడు, కాపాడు. ఏదో వింతజీవి, రెండు కాళ్లమీద వెంటపడుతోంది. "టుష్.." మని శబ్దం చేస్తోంది" అన్నది పిల్లరాక్షసి, వగరుస్తూ. అంతలో "ఏ...య్! ఎక్కడున్నావు నువ్వు? నానుండి తప్పించుకు పోలేవు! టుశ్....ష్" అని శబ్దం వచ్చింది వెనకవైపునుండి. "అమ్మో, మనిషి!" అని అంతలావు ఏనుగూ పరుగులు పెట్టి, ఒక్క క్షణంలో కనుమరుగైంది. పిల్ల రాక్షసి ఒక్కసారి వెనక్కి తిరిగి చూసే సరికి వింతజీవి దగ్గరకొచ్చేసింది! పిల్ల రాక్షసి పరుగు మళ్ళీ మొదలైంది.
చాలా దూరం పరుగెత్తాక దానికి ప్రాణాలు కడబట్టినట్లై, ఒక ప్రక్కగా ఆగింది. అక్కడ ఓ చెట్టుమీద ఒక చిరుతపులి కునుకు తీస్తున్నది. పిల్లరాక్షసిని అది ఆప్యాయంగా పలకరించింది. "ఏదో వింత జీవి- మనిషట, నావెంట పడింది. కాపాడు, కాపాడు" అని పిల్లరాక్షసి అనగానే అది దబ్బున నేలమీద పడింది-"అమ్మో, మనిషా!?" అని అరిచి, వంకరదారుల వెంట, తుప్పల మీదినుండి దూకుతూ పరుగు పెట్టింది.

అలా అది సింహాన్నీ, పెద్దపులినీ, తోడేళ్లనీ, నక్కల్నీ కల్సి "కాపాడమని" మొర-పెట్టుకున్నది. ఏ జంతువుల్ని కలిస్తే అవల్లా- "మనిషా!" అని ప్రాణం పోయినట్లుగా అరిచేవి; లేచి, ఒక్క ఉదుటున పారిపోయేవి!
అలా పరుగు తీసీ పరుగు తీసీ చివరికి పిల్ల రాక్షసి తమ గుహనే చేరుకున్నది. గుహలో తల్లి రాక్షసి గురక పెట్టి నిద్రపోతున్నది. పిల్లరాక్షసి వెళ్ళి "ఓయమ్మో, కాపాడు, కాపాడు" అని మొత్తుకోగానే అది లేచి, "ఏమైందే" అని అడిగింది, బద్ధకంగా. "ఎవరో మనిషట, నా వెంట పడ్డాడు. "ఏ..య్.టు..శ్..శ్..ష్" అని అరుస్తున్నాడు. అన్నది రాక్షసి పిల్ల.
తల్లి రాక్షసి ఆవులించింది. "మనిషి మనకు భయపడాలి గాని, మనం వాడికి భయపడేదేంటి?" అన్నది ఒకింత చికాకుగా. "అందరికీ అదంటే భయమేనే, నా వాసన పట్టినట్లుంది, నా వెంటే వస్తున్నది, వెతుక్కుంటూ" అన్నది పిల్ల రాక్షసి, తల్లిని కావలించుకుంటూ. "ఏం పర్లేదులే, నేను వస్తాను గదా, పద!" అని, తల్లి రాక్షసి దాన్ని బుజ్జగించి బయటికి తీసుకెళ్ళింది.
ఇవి వెళ్ళే సరికి, మనిషి అక్కడ సరస్సు దగ్గర నిల్చొని 'ఏ జంతువును చంపుకెళ్దామా' అని ఎదురుచూస్తున్నాడు.
తల్లి రాక్షసి వాడిని చూసీ చూడగానే పెడబొబ్బలు పెట్టుకుంటూ ఒక్క ఉదుటున వాడి పైకి దూకింది. ఆ పొలికేకకు వాడికి వెన్నులోంచి చలి పుట్టుకొచ్చినట్లైంది.
ఆ తరువాత తల్లి రాక్షసి పిల్లకు-"చూడమ్మా, మనం దేనికీ భయపడకూడదు- భయపడితే అలుసైపోతాం. ఆ తర్వాత లోకం మనల్ని వశం చేసుకుంటుంది. అందుకని, అవసరాన్ని బట్టి లోకాన్ని భయపెట్టాలి తప్ప, మనం మాత్రం ఎప్పుడూ భయపడరాదు" అని ఉపదేశించింది.

Animals and birds had lived there peacefully for generations, calling it their
home.
Right in the middle of this forest lay a beautiful lake.
Near that lake, inside a cave, lived a demon mother and her little daughter.
But don’t imagine scary monsters.
They were kind. Gentle. Peaceful.
They never harmed anyone—not a bird, not an animal. They
lived quietly, minding their own lives, just like everyone else in the forest.
The little demon girl loved the forest where she was born—the fresh air, the
trees, the sounds, the freedom. And the mother? She loved her child more than
her own life.
🌸 A Peaceful Morning by
the Lake
One pleasant day, just like any other, the little demon girl
was sitting by the lake. She dipped her feet into the cool water and splashed
happily. Spring had arrived.
Flowers were blooming everywhere. Leaves danced gently in
the breeze. Birds sang sweet songs from the treetops. Lost in the beauty of
nature, the little girl smiled to herself.
Suddenly…
A shadow fell over her.
She turned around.
And froze.
Behind her stood a strange creature—watching her closely.
It stood on two legs, just like demons do. But something was
different. It had no horns. Its sharp teeth seemed hidden. Its skin was
colorful, but strange—no hair, no scales. In its hand, it held a long stick and
stared at her with cruel eyes.
Fear gripped her heart.
She stood still for a moment… unable to move.
Then the creature shouted,
“Hey!”
From the stick came a sharp sound—“Tush… shhh… shh!”—and
something flew toward her.
The little demon girl jumped aside just in time and ran.

She ran without looking back.
The strange creature chased her, shouting loudly. Again and
again, the stick made that frightening sound.
She rushed through bushes, thorns, and tall grass, trying to
escape.
Soon, she ran into an elephant.
“Please help me!” she cried. “A strange creature is chasing
me! It walks on two legs and makes scary sounds!”
But the moment the elephant heard,
“A… human!”
it screamed and ran away in fear.
The girl turned around.
The creature was closer now.
She ran again.
😱 Fear Everywhere
After running a long distance, she was exhausted. Her breath
came fast and heavy. She stopped near a tree where a leopard was sleeping.
“Please save me!” she begged. “A human is chasing me!”
The leopard jumped down instantly.
“A human?!”
And disappeared into the forest in seconds.
She met lions. Wolves. Tigers. Foxes.
Every time she begged for help, the answer was the same.
“Human!”
And they ran.
Fear was everywhere.
🏠 Running Back Home
Finally, with trembling legs and a pounding heart, the
little demon girl reached her cave. Inside, her mother was fast asleep.
“Amma! Save me!” she cried.
The mother woke up slowly.
“What happened, child?”
“A human is chasing me,” the girl said, clinging to her
mother. “He keeps shouting and making scary sounds.”
The mother yawned.
“A human?” she said calmly. “Humans should fear us. Why
should we fear them?”
“But everyone is afraid of him,” the child said softly. “He
keeps following me.”
The mother smiled and stood up.
“Come,” she said. “I’m with you.”
🔥 Fear Changes Sides
When they reached the lake, the human was standing there,
waiting—thinking about which animal to hunt.
The moment the mother demon saw him, she let out a
terrifying roar and leaped toward him.
The sound sent a chill straight through his spine.
Now it was his turn to run.
The human fled as fast as he could. The mother and child
chased him, laughing, tasting the joy of fear turning into courage.
He never returned to that forest again.
🌟 A Lesson for Life
Later, the mother sat beside her daughter and said gently,
“My child, never let fear control you.
When we fear too much, others take advantage of us.
The world begins to dominate those who are afraid.”
She paused and continued,
“Sometimes, we must stand strong.
We should not always be afraid.
Instead, when needed, we must face fear… and rise above it.”
The little demon girl nodded.
She had learned a lesson she would never forget.
🌈 Moral of the Story
Fear makes us weak.
Courage makes us powerful.
👉 Do not fear blindly.
Stand strong. Believe in yourself.
Sometimes, what scares everyone else… is not as powerful as it seems.
