అనగా అనగా రాజస్థాన్ లో నలుగురు స్నేహితులు ఉండేవాళ్ళు. వాళ్లలో మొదటి ముగ్గురూ 'ఖాన్లు'. వాళ్లు ముగ్గురూ ఒక జట్టు. నాలుగోవాడు 'మియో'ను ఒంటరివాడిని చేసి, ఏడిపిస్తూ ఉండేవాళ్ళు ఖాన్లు. అయితే ఈ నాలుగోవాడు మహా ఘటికుడు. ప్రతిసారీ తన తెలివి తేటలతో మిగిలిన ముగ్గుర్నీ మట్టి కరిపిస్తూ ఉండేవాడు.
ఒకసారి, ఉద్యోగాల వేటలో వాళ్ళు నలుగురూ పట్నం పోవాల్సి వచ్చింది. నలుగురూ బయల్దేరి, నడిచీ- నడిచీ- మధ్యాహ్నం అయ్యేసరికి ఒక పల్లెటూరు పొలిమేరలు చేరుకున్నారు. కొంచెంసేపు అక్కడే విశ్రాంతి తీసుకొని వెళ్లాలని విశ్చయించుకున్నారు అంతా.

"అబ్బ! ఈ ప్రదేశం కొత్తది. అదీగాక మనం ముగ్గురం, వీడు ఒంటరివాడు- వీడిని మనం ఎట్లా అంటే అట్లా ఆడించవచ్చు!" అనుకున్నారు ఖాన్లు ముగ్గురూ.
ఆ సమయానికి అందరికీ బాగా ఆకలి అవుతున్నది: "నలుగురూ నడిచి ఊళ్లోకి పోవటం వృధా. అందుకని, నువ్వొక్కడివే ఊళ్లోకి పోయి, నలుగురికీ సరిపోయేన్ని లడ్డూలు కొనుక్కురా" అని మియోకు పని పురమాయించారు. మనసులో మాత్రం "వీడిని లడ్డూలు తేనిచ్చి, అన్నీ మనమే తినేద్దాం. వీడు ఆకలితో మాడుతుంటే మనం బాగా నవ్వుకోవచ్చు" అనుకున్నారు.
మియో ఒక్కడే ఊళ్లోకి నడిచిపోయి, నలుగురుకీ సరిపోయేన్ని లడ్డూలు కొన్నాడు. అయితే "ఈ ఖాన్లు ముగ్గురూ అతి తెలివివాళ్ళు. లడ్డూలన్నీ కాజేసి, నన్ను పస్తుపడుకోబెట్ట గల సమర్ధులు. నా వాటా నేను తినేయ్యటం మంచిది" అనిపించింది వాడికి. వెంటనే వాడు ఆగి, లడ్డూల డబ్బాలోంచి తన వాటా లడ్డూలు తను తినేసాడు. మిగిలిన వాటినే తీసుకెళ్ళి ఖాన్ల కు ఇచ్చాడు.
ఆ కొన్ని లడ్డూల్నీ చూసి, ఖాన్లు ముగ్గురికీ కోపం వచ్చింది. "ఏమిరా, మియో, దున్నపోతూ?! మనం నలుగురం ఉన్నాం- నువ్వు ఈ కొన్ని లడ్డూలు మాత్రం తెచ్చావు? నువ్వొక్కడివీ అన్నన్ని లడ్డూలు ఎట్లా తిన్నావురా?!" అన్నారు వాళ్ళు.వెంటనే ప్యాకెట్లోంచి చేతికి అందినన్ని లడ్డూల్ని అందుకొని, హడావిడిగా నోట్లో కుక్కుకున్నాడు మియో- "ఇదిగోండి, అన్నలూ! ఇట్లా తిన్నాను, నేను!" అంటూ.
ఖాన్లు తేరుకునేసరికి లడ్డూలు మరింత తగ్గిపోయినై. "ఇంకొక ప్రశ్న అడిగామంటే వీడు ఈ ప్యాకెట్ అంతా తినేసేటట్లున్నాడు" అని భయం వేసింది వాళ్ళకు. వెంటనే వాళ్ళు హడావిడిగా మియో నుండి లడ్డూల ప్యాకెట్ ను లాక్కొన్నారు. నోరు మూసుకొని మిగిలిన వాటిని తిని, ఎలాగో ఒకలా సర్దుకున్నారు. అందరూ కడుపుల నిండా నీళ్ళు త్రాగాక, సేదతీరి, మెల్లగా నడుస్తూ పట్నం చేరుకున్నారు.
మర్నాడు అందరికీ మంచి మంచి పనులు దొరికాయి. కొద్ది రోజులకు అందరి జేబుల్లోను కాసులు గలగలలాడాయి. ఖాన్లు ముగ్గురూ అనుకున్నారు- "చూడు, ఈ మియో మనల్ని మోసం చేసి లడ్డూలన్నీ తిన్నాడు- 'తనే తెలివైనవాడు' అని గర్వపడుతున్నాడేమో! వీడికి గుణపాఠం చెప్పవలసిందే" అని.
అందుకని వాళ్ళు మియోను పిలిచి "తమ్ముడూ, ఈ రోజు సాయంత్రం మనం ఇంటికి బయల్దేరుదాం. ప్రయాణంలో తినేందుకు చక్కటి పాయసం వండు" అన్నారు.
అందరూ కలిసి పాలు, సేమియాలు, ఏలకులు వగైరాలన్నింటిని తెచ్చుకున్నారు. మియో చాలా బాధ్యతగా, నోరూరించే పాయసం తయారుచేశాడు. పాయసం గిన్నెకు ఒక బట్టను చుట్టి, ముడి వేసుకొని, నలుగురూ సొంత ఊరికి బయలుదేరారు.
దారిలో కొంచెం చీకటి పడుతుండగానే ఒక చెట్టు కింద ఆగారు నలుగురూ. "ఇక పాయసం తిందాం" అన్నాడు మియో.
"ఇంత తొందరగానా?" అన్నారు ఖాన్లు . "ఆగు, మనం ఒక పని చేద్దాం. ఈ పాయసపు గిన్నెను చెట్టుకు తగిలించు. మనమందరం దాని క్రిందనే పడుకుందాం, కొంచెం సేపు. రెండు గంటలలోపల ఎవరికి గొప్ప కల వస్తే పాయసం వాళ్ళది- వాళ్ళు ఎలా చెబితే అలా పంచుకోవాలి దాన్ని, అందరం! సరేనా?" అన్నారు వాళ్లు.

'ఇది వాళ్ల ముగ్గురూ కలిసి పన్నుతున్న కుతంత్రం' అని అర్థమైంది మియోకు. అయినా వాడు అమాయకంగా తల ఊపుతూ. "సరే, సరే. అందరి కంటే గొప్ప కల ఎవరికి వస్తే వాళ్లదే పాయసం" అన్నాడు- "ఈ ముగ్గురూ నన్ను మోసం చేద్దామనుకుంటున్నట్లుంది. అందరం కలిసి కొన్నాం కదా, సరుకుల్ని? ఇక పాయసాన్ని ఒక్కడికే ఇచ్చేది ఎందుకట?" అని మనసులో అనుకుంటూ.
నలుగురూ చెట్టు మొదట్లో తువాళ్ళు పరుచుకొని పడుకున్నారు. 'మియో ఎప్పుడు పడుకుంటాడా' అని ఖాన్లు: 'వాళ్లెప్పుడు పడుకుంటారా' అని మియో, ఎదురుచూస్తూ ఉన్నారు. ఇక వీలయ్యేది లేదని, మియో నిద్ర నటిస్తూ గురక పెట్టటం మొదలుపెట్టాడు.
అయితే వాడి గురక వినగానే ఖాన్లు ముగ్గురికీ నిద్ర ముంచుకొచ్చింది. వాళ్లు అటు నిద్ర పోయారో- లేదో, మియో చటుక్కున లేచిపోయి, గిన్నెలో ఉన్న పాయసాన్నంతా ఒక్క చుక్క కూడా మిగలకుండా తినేశాడు! గిన్నెనంతా నాకేశాక, వాడు పోయి తన స్థానంలో తాను వచ్చి పడుకొని, హాయిగా నిద్రపోయాడు.
రెండు గంటల్లో నిద్ర లేద్దామనుకున్న మిత్రులకు తెల్లవారేవరకూ మెలకువ రాలేదు. లేచీ లేవగానే ఖాన్లు ఎవరికొచ్చిన కలల్ని వాళ్లు చెప్పటం మొదలుపెట్టారు:
"సోదరులారా! నేను నిన్న రాత్రి అజ్మీర్ వెళ్ళానట. అక్కడ రాజావారి దర్బారు చూశాను. అది ఎంత అద్భుతంగా ఉందంటే- దాన్ని వర్ణించేందుకు మాటలు చాలవు....." అన్నాడు మొదటివాడు.
"ఓహో! నేనైతే నిన్న రాత్రి జైపూర్ కు వెళ్లాను. జైపూర్ మహారాజుగారి కోట ఎంత అందంగా ఉందో! మైమరిచిపోయాను. అందుకనే రాత్రి ఇక మేలుకోలేదు..." అన్నాడు రెండవవాడు.
"సోదరులారా! నేను ఏం చెప్ప-మంటారు? నిన్న రాత్రి నేను మక్కాకు వెళ్లాను. అక్కడ ఏకంగా మహమ్మదు ప్రవక్తనే దర్శించుకున్నాను!" అన్నాడు మూడోవాడు.
అప్పటికి మియో ఇంకా నిద్ర నుండి లేవనట్లు ముసుగు పెట్టుకునే ఉన్నాడు, వీళ్ల మాటలు వింటూ. ఇప్పుడు, మూడోవాడి కల పూర్తవ్వగానే, వాడు గట్టిగా మూలగటం మొదలుపెట్టాడు- "అయ్యో! అయ్యో! వద్దు! సరే! సరే!" అని.
"ఏమిరా, మియో!? దున్నపోతూ! లేస్తున్నావా, లేదా?" అరిచారు ఖాన్లు .

"చెప్పు! నీకేం కల వచ్చిందో చెప్పు! ఏమైందట?" అన్నారు ఖాన్లు .
"అన్నలారా! నిన్నరాత్రి ఎవరో ఒక భారీకాయుడు వచ్చాడు, నా దగ్గరికి! వచ్చి నన్ను తుక్కు తుక్కుగా చితక్కొట్టేశాడు. నా ఒళ్లంతా పచ్చి పుండులాగా ఉన్నది. అబ్బ! అయ్యో! ఏం చెప్పాలి? 'తిను! తిను! ఈ పాయసం తిను! ఇదంతా తినెయ్యాలి!' అని ఆ భారీ కాయుడు పాయసాన్ని నా నోట్లో కుక్కాడు. నేను పాయసం మొత్తాన్నీ తినేశాక, వాడు నన్ను ఇంకొంచెం చితకకొట్టి, మాయం అయిపోయాడు. నా ఒళ్లంతా నొప్పులే! అబ్బ! అయ్యో" అని మూలిగాడు మియో!
ఖాన్లు గబుక్కున పరుగెత్తి చూసుకుంటే- ఏముంది?- పాయసం పాత్ర ఖాళీగా ఉన్నది!" ఒరేయ్, మూర్ఖుడా! దున్నపోతూ! మేం ముగ్గురం నీ ప్రక్కనే పడుకొని ఉన్నాం కదా? మమ్మల్లెందుకు లేపలేదు, నువ్వు? మేం నిన్ను కాపాడే వాళ్లం గద! మమ్మల్నెందుకు లేపలేదు నువ్వు?" అన్నారు వాళ్లు కోపంగా.
"అయ్యో! నేను ఏం చేసేది!? మీరు- ఒకళ్లేమో అజ్మీరులో ఉన్నారు, ఒకళ్లు జైపూరులో ఉన్నారు, ఇక మూడోవాడేమో ఎక్కడో ఉన్న మక్కాకు వెళ్లి ప్రవక్తను దర్శించుకుంటున్నాడు! నేను మీ కోసం ఎంత గట్టిగా కేకలు పెట్టానంటే- అడగకండి!- కానీ మీకెట్లా వినిపిస్తుంది, మీరిక్కడ లేనిదే!?" అన్నాడు మియో!

The Feast Dream – A Clever Moral Story for Kids
Long ago, in the land of Rajasthan, there lived four
friends.
Three of them were known as the Khans. They always
stayed together and acted like a team.
The fourth friend was named Mio.
The three Khans often teased Mio, made fun of him,
and treated him badly.
But Mio was not weak or foolish.
He was smart, quick-thinking, and very clever. Whenever the Khans tried
to trick him, Mio used his intelligence to escape their plans.
The Journey to the City
One day, all four friends decided to go to a city to look
for jobs.
They walked for many hours. By afternoon, they reached the edge of a small
village and decided to rest under a tree.
Everyone was very hungry.
The three Khans whispered to each other and said,
“We are three, and he is alone. Let’s send Mio to the village.”
They told Mio,
“Go to the village and buy laddus for all four of us.”
Inside their minds, they planned,
“We will eat all the sweets and laugh while Mio stays hungry.”
Mio’s Smart Move
Mio went alone to the village and bought enough laddus for
everyone.
But he thought,
“These three may take everything and leave me with nothing.”
So Mio stopped on the way and ate his share first.
Then he carried the remaining laddus back to the Khans.
When the Khans saw fewer laddus, they became angry.
“How did you eat so many by yourself?” they shouted.
Mio calmly picked up a few laddus and quickly ate them,
saying,
“Like this!”
The Khans got scared.
“If we wait longer, he’ll finish everything!” they thought.
So they grabbed the box, ate the remaining laddus, and said
nothing more.

A New Plan to Cheat Mio
The next day, all four friends got good jobs. Soon, they
started earning money.
But the Khans still felt angry.

They told Mio,
“Let’s go back home. Please cook payasam (sweet pudding) for the
journey.”
Mio prepared delicious payasam. They packed it
carefully and started walking.
The Dream Game
As evening came, they stopped under a tree.
“Let’s eat the payasam now,” said Mio.
“No,” said the Khans.
“Let’s play a game. Hang the pot on the tree. We’ll sleep under it. Whoever
gets the best dream will own the payasam.”
Mio understood their trick — but he agreed quietly.

Everyone lay down.
The Khans waited for Mio to sleep.
Mio waited for them to sleep.
Mio pretended to snore.
