స్త్రీ శక్తి కోటలను సైతం మించిపోతుంది, తల్లి మమకారం అగాధాలను కూడా గెలుస్తుంది..... అసాధ్యమైన దానిని సుసాధ్యం చేసిన ఒక తల్లి కథ ఇది. తల్లికి తన బిడ్డపై ఉండే మమకారం మరియు ధైర్యాన్ని చాటి చెప్పే ఒక నిజమైన సంఘటన.
ఇది మహారాష్ట్రలో ఛత్రపతి శివాజీ మహారాజు పరిపాలనా కాలంలో జరిగిన కథ. శివాజీ నిర్మించిన రాయ్గడ్ కోట సామాన్యమైన కోట కాదు. కొండలు, గుట్టలు, నదులు, వాగులు అన్నీ ఆ కోట లోపలే ఉండేవి. కోట పైభాగంలో రాజప్రసాదం, అధికారులు మరియు వారి కుటుంబాలు నివసించేవారు. కోట దిగువన ఉన్న గ్రామాల్లో చాలా కుటుంబాలు నివసించేవి.
పొలం, పశువులు, మేకలు వంటివాటిని సాకుతూ ఎన్నో కుటుంబాలు అక్కడ ఉండేవి. దిగువ కోటలో ఉండేవారు పాలు, పెరుగు, వెన్న, నెయ్యి, పండ్లు, కూరగాయలను బుట్టల్లో మోస్తూ పై కోటకు వెళ్లి అమ్ముకుని వచ్చేవారు.
కోటలో ఏడాదికోసారి జాతర జరిగేది. ఆ రోజు పౌర్ణమి జాతర జరుగుతోంది. ‘హీరా’ అనే మహిళ పై కోటకు పాలు అమ్మడానికి వచ్చింది. జాతర చూసి ఇంటికి బయలుదేరేసరికి సాయంత్రం అయ్యింది. ఆమె ఇంకా పై కోటలోనే ఉంది, కానీ ఆమె ఇల్లు కోట దిగువన ఉంది. ఆమె ఇంటికి వెళ్లడం పెద్ద సమస్యేమీ కాదు, కానీ కోటలో కొన్ని కఠినమైన నియమాలు ఉండేవి.
సూర్యాస్తమయం అయ్యేలోపు అందరూ తమ వ్యాపారాలను ముగించుకుని తమ నివాసాలకు చేరుకోవాలి. సూర్యాస్తమయం తర్వాత కోట తలుపులు మూసివేస్తారు. ఆ తర్వాత ఎవరూ లోపలికి రాకూడదు, బయటకు వెళ్లకూడదు. ఇది రాజాజ్ఞ.
హీరా పాలు అమ్మి, జాతర చూసి బయలుదేరేసరికి కోట ప్రధాన ద్వారాలు మూసివేశారు. ఆ తలుపులు చాలా పెద్దవి, కదిలించడం సాధ్యం కాదు. చుట్టూ కాపలాదారులు ఉండటంతో వారి కన్నుగప్పి వెళ్లడం అసాధ్యం. హీరా కాపలాదారులను ఎంతో బతిమాలింది, కానీ వారు రాజాజ్ఞకు భయపడి ఆమెను బయటకు వదలలేదు. హీరా గుండె వేగంగా కొట్టుకోవడం మొదలైంది. కారణం, ఇంట్లో తన మూడు నెలల పసికందును ఉయ్యాలలో పడుకోబెట్టి వచ్చింది.
బిడ్డకు పాలివ్వాలి. ఉదయం బయలుదేరినప్పుడు బిడ్డకు పాలు ఇచ్చింది, ఇప్పుడు ఎంత సమయం అయ్యింది? బిడ్డ ఆకలితో ఏడుస్తూ ఉంటుందేమో అన్న ఆందోళన ఆమెను ఉక్కిరిబిక్కిరి చేసింది. (ఈ వాస్తవ సంఘటనను సాహిత్య రూపంలోకి తెచ్చిన వారు ఆశా నాగభూషణ్).
ఇప్పుడు ఆమెకు ఒకటే దారి కనిపించింది. వెన్నెల వెలుతురులో అడవి మార్గంలో వెళ్లడం. ఆ మార్గం చాలా కఠినమైనది. ముళ్ళు, రాళ్లు, రప్పలతో నిండి ఉంది. పై కోటకు, దిగువ కోటకు మధ్య లోతైన అగాధం ఉంది. ఆ అగాధం కిందే హీరా ఇల్లు ఉంది. ఇంటికి వెళ్లాలంటే ఆ కొండను దిగాల్సిందే. ప్రాణాలకు తెగించి ఆమె ఆ అడవి మార్గంలో వెళ్ళింది. అగాధం అంచున నిలబడి కిందకు చూస్తే భయంకరంగా ఉంది. కానీ బిడ్డ కోసం ఆమె ధైర్యం కోల్పోలేదు. “జై మాతా అంబా భవాని” అని తలుచుకుంటూ ఆ ఎత్తైన కొండ నుండి కిందకు దూకేసింది.
ఆమె రాళ్లు, ముళ్ల పొదల్లో పడింది. ఒళ్లంతా గాయాలయ్యాయి, రక్తం ఓడుతోంది. కానీ అవేమీ పట్టించుకోకుండా ఇంటికి పరుగెత్తింది. ఉయ్యాలలో బిడ్డ ఏడ్చి ఏడ్చి అలసిపోయి, ముఖమంతా ఎర్రబడి నిద్రపోతోంది. వెంటనే ఆమె బిడ్డను ఎత్తుకుని, గుండెలకు హత్తుకుని పాలు ఇచ్చింది. బిడ్డ పాలు తాగుతుంటే, పోయిన ప్రాణం తిరిగి వచ్చినట్లు ఆ తల్లి మనసు ఆనందంతో నిండిపోయింది. హమ్మయ్య అని నిట్టూర్పు విడిచింది.
మరుసటి రోజు ఉదయానికి హీరా కోట అంచు నుండి దూకిన విషయం కోట అంతా పాకిపోయింది. హీరా రాజాజ్ఞను ఉల్లంఘించిందని అందరూ చర్చించుకోవడం మొదలుపెట్టారు. శివాజీ మహారాజుకు ఈ విషయం తెలిసి ఆశ్చర్యపోయాడు. హీరాను దర్బారుకు పిలిపించాడు. ఆమె శివాజీని చూసి భయంతో, “ప్రభూ, నా మూడు నెలల బిడ్డ ఆకలి తీర్చడం కోసం నేను రాజాజ్ఞను ఉల్లంఘించాను, నన్ను క్షమించండి” అని ఏడుస్తూ తలదించుకుంది.
అప్పుడు శివాజీ ఇలా అన్నాడు, “తల్లీ, తల ఎత్తు. నువ్వు తలదించుకోవాల్సిన పని చేయలేదు, సమాజం గర్వపడే పని చేశావు. ‘తల్లి ప్రేమ సామాన్యమైనది కాదు, అది ఏడు ప్రాకారాల కోట కంటే గొప్పది’ అని ప్రపంచానికి చాటి చెప్పావు” అని ఆమెను ప్రశంసించి, బహుమతులు ఇచ్చి పంపాడు. అంతటితో ఆగకుండా, ఆ మమతామయి గుర్తుగా ఆమె ఎక్కడైతే కొండ దిగిందో అక్కడ ఒక బురుజును నిర్మించాడు.
దానికి “హీరాకణి బురుజు” అని పేరు పెట్టాడు. నేటికీ రాయ్గడ్ కోటను సందర్శించే వేలాది మంది పర్యాటకులు ఆ బురుజును చూసి, ఆ తల్లి ప్రేమను స్మరించుకుంటూ గర్వపడతారు.
తల్లి దైవం కావచ్చు, కానీ దైవం తల్లి కాలేడు. అందుకే ‘తల్లిని మించిన దైవం లేదు’ అంటారు. ఈ భూమిపై అత్యంత స్వచ్ఛమైన, నిస్వార్థమైన ప్రేమ ఏదైనా ఉందంటే అది తల్లి ప్రేమ మాత్రమే.

A woman’s strength can be greater than strong fort walls,
and a mother’s love can overcome even the deepest valleys. This is the true
story of a brave mother who made the impossible possible because of her love
for her child.
Long ago, during the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in
the Indian state of Maharashtra, there stood a magnificent fort called Raigad
Fort.
This fort was not an ordinary one. It was built on top of a
huge hill and surrounded by forests, streams, and valleys. At the top of the
fort lived the king, his officers, and their families. Below the fort, many
villagers lived in small houses and worked as farmers and cattle keepers.
Every day, people from the villages carried baskets of milk,
curd, butter, fruits, and vegetables to the fort to sell their goods.
Once every year, a big fair was held inside the fort. On the
night of the full moon, people gathered to celebrate with joy and excitement.
One day, a woman named Hirakani came to the fort to sell
milk. After finishing her work, she stayed for some time to watch the fair. By
the time she decided to return home, it had already become evening.
Her house was in the village below the fort. Normally, she
could easily return home. But the fort had very strict rules.
Everyone had to finish their work and return to their homes
before sunset. As soon as the sun set, the huge gates of the fort were closed.
After that, no one was allowed to go in or out. This was the king’s order.
When Hirakani reached the gate, it was already closed. The
gates were very large and strong, and guards were standing around them. She
begged the guards to let her go home, but they were afraid to break the king’s
order.
Hirakani became very worried. Her heart began to beat fast.
At home, her three-month-old baby was lying in a cradle. She
had fed the baby milk before leaving in the morning. Now many hours had passed.
The baby must be hungry and crying.
The thought of her hungry baby made Hirakani extremely
anxious.
She looked around and saw only one possible way to reach
home — a dangerous path through the forest under the moonlight.
The path was very difficult, full of thorns, stones, and
rocks. Between the top of the fort and the village below was a deep and
frightening valley. Her house was somewhere down below.
To reach home, she had to climb down the steep hill.
Even though it was very dangerous, Hirakani gathered all her
courage. Thinking of the Goddess and her baby, she said a prayer and jumped
down the steep cliff.
She fell among rocks and thorny bushes. Her body was covered
with wounds, and she was bleeding. But she did not stop.
Ignoring the pain, she ran toward her house.
When she reached home, she saw her baby in the cradle. The
baby had cried so much that the face had turned red and the child had finally
fallen asleep.
Hirakani quickly picked up her baby, hugged the child
tightly, and fed the baby milk.
As the baby drank the milk peacefully, Hirakani felt as if
life had returned to her. Her heart was filled with relief and happiness.
The next morning, the news of Hirakani’s brave act spread
all over the fort. People were talking about how she had broken the king’s
rule.
When Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj heard about this, he was
surprised and called Hirakani to his court.
Hirakani stood before the king with fear. With tears in her
eyes, she said,
“My Lord, I broke your order only because my three-month-old baby was hungry.
Please forgive me.”
But instead of punishing her, the king smiled and said,
“Mother, raise your head. You have done nothing wrong. In
fact, you have done something that the whole society should be proud of. You
have shown the world that a mother’s love is greater than even the strongest
fort walls.”
The king praised her bravery and gave her gifts.
To honor her courage and motherly love, he ordered that a
tower be built at the place where she climbed down the cliff. That tower was
named Hirakani Buruj.
Even today, thousands of visitors who come to Raigad Fort
see this tower and remember the bravery and love of that mother.
People often say that a mother can be like God, but God
cannot replace a mother. That is why we say there is no one greater than a
mother.
The purest and most selfless love in the world is a mother’s
love.
