1955: బెజవాడ నగరంలో ఓ రిక్షా కార్మికుడు రాత్రి సెకండ్ షో సినిమా వదిలాక బేరాలు చూసుకుని తిరిగి ఇంటికి వెళుతోంటే అతడిని ఓ ముత్తైదువ ఆపింది.

 "బాబూ, నన్ను ఇంద్రకీలాద్రి పర్వతం వద్దకు తీసుకు వెళతావా?" అని చిరునవ్వుతో అడిగింది.

 

అప్పటికే అలసిపోయి ఉన్న అతను ఆవిడ ముఖంలో కళ, తేజస్సు చూసి కాదనలేక "ఎక్కండమ్మా" అన్నాడు. 

కొంత సేపటి తరువాత ఆవిడ "ఈ అర్థరాత్రి పూట కూడా కష్టబడుతున్నావ్, నీకు భయం వేయదా?" అని అతడిని అడిగింది. 

దానికతను చిన్నగా నవ్వి "భయం ఎందుకు అమ్మగారు? మా బెజవాడ కనక దుర్గమ్మ తల్లి మమ్మల్ని ఎల్లప్పుడూ సల్లగా సూత్తుంటది" అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.

 

ఇంతలో ఇంద్రకీలాద్రి వచ్చేసింది. 

ఆవిడ రిక్షా దిగి అతడి వైపు ఒక్కక్షణం చూసి పర్వతం వైపు నడవ సాగింది.

ఆశ్చర్యపోయిన రిక్షా అతను "అమ్మ గారూ డబ్బులు" అని చిన్నగా అన్నాడు. 

ఆవిడ ఒక్కక్షణం ఆగి తిరిగి నడక కొనసాగించింది, కొన్ని క్షణాలలో ఆవిడ ఆ చీకట్లో మాయమైపోయింది.

రిక్షా అతనికి జరిగింది, చూసింది అర్థం కాక బుర్ర గోక్కుని ఇంటి దారి పట్టాడు.

"వచ్చినప్పటి నుంచి దోరబంధం మీద కూసుని ఏటి ఆలోసిత్తన్నావ్"? అని రిక్షా అతని భార్య రెట్టించి అడగ్గానే జరిగింది చెప్పాడు. 

అంతా విన్నాక ఆమె నిట్టూర్చి "ముందు నువు తిను, నాకు నిద్రొత్తోంది" అని అన్నం వడ్డించింది.

 

అతను మెల్లగా లేచి తలకు చుట్టుకున్న (తలపాగా) గుడ్డను తీసి దులిపాడు. అంతే!!

అందులోంచి భారీగా డబ్బుతో పాటూ విలువైన బంగారు గాజు కింద పడ్డాయి. వాటిని చూసిన ఆ పేద దంపతులు తమ కళ్ళను తామే నమ్మలేకపోయారు.

 

సంతోషంతో అతను పెట్టిన కేకకు పేటలో జనాలు మేల్కొన్నారు. 

జరిగింది విన్న స్థానికులు "ఎంత అదృష్టంరా నీది! సాక్షాత్తూ ఆ అమ్మవారినే ఊరేగించావ్.. కానుకలు పుచ్చుకునే అమ్మ, నీకు కానుకలు కూడా ఇచ్చింది" అని అతన్ని, ఆ రిక్షాని తాకి ఆనందపడ్డారు.

 

ఈ అద్భుత సంఘటన గురించి, అమ్మవారి మహిమ గురించి 1955లో ఆంధ్ర కేసరి పత్రిక ప్రచురించింది.

Moral of the Story:

భక్తి, నమ్మకం, నిజాయితీ ఎల్లప్పుడూ ఫలితాలను అందిస్తాయి — తరచుగా మన ఊహలకు మించినవిగా.

1955: In the city of Bejawada, a rickshaw puller, after finishing his night’s second-show movie, was counting his earnings as he headed home when a young girl stopped him. With a charming smile, she asked, “Sir, will you take me to Indrakeeladri Hill?”

Already tired, he looked at her face, full of grace and radiance, and couldn’t say no. “Hop on, amma,” he replied. A little while later, she asked, “Even at this late hour, you are working so hard. Aren’t you afraid?”

He chuckled softly and said, “Why fear, amma? Our Bejawada’s Goddess Kanaka Durga always protects us.”

Just then, they reached Indrakeeladri. The girl got off the rickshaw, glanced at him briefly, and started walking toward the hill. Surprised, the rickshaw puller quietly said, “Amma, take the money.” She paused for a moment, then continued walking, and within moments, she vanished into the darkness.

Bewildered by what had just happened, the rickshaw puller headed home, unable to make sense of it all.

When his wife asked him sharply, “Since you came home, what were you mumbling to yourself on the rope?” he recounted the entire incident. After hearing everything, she smiled and said, “Eat first, I’m sleepy,” and served him a meal.

As he slowly got up and lifted the head covering (turban) he had worn, a pile of money and precious gold jewelry fell out. The poor couple could hardly believe their eyes. Overjoyed, he placed the cake he had bought earlier, and the villagers who heard the story were amazed. They exclaimed, “What luck! You literally served the Goddess herself… and she rewarded you with gifts!”

This miraculous event and the glory of the Goddess were published in the Andhra Kesari newspaper in 1955.
