15,000 సంవత్సరాల క్రిందట హిమాలయాలలోనిఎగువ ప్రాంతాలలో ఒక యోగి ప్రత్యక్షమయ్యారు. ఆయన నిశ్చలంగా కూర్చుని ఉన్నారు. ఆయన ఎవరో, ఎక్కడనుంచివచ్చారో ఎవరికీ తెలియదు. ఆయన సమక్షం చాలా అసాధారణంగా ఉండటం వల్ల చాలా మంది ప్రజలు ఆయన చుట్టూ గుమిగూడారు. 

ఏదో అద్భుతం జరుగుతుందన్న ఆశతో వారంతా నెలలకొద్దీ వేచి చూసారు. అప్పడప్పుడు ఆయన కనుల నుండి వెలువడే ఆనందభాష్పాలు తప్ప, ఆయన జీవించే ఉన్నారు అన్నదానికి వేరే సంకేతాలేమి లేవు.

ఒకరు అలా నెలల తరబడి కేవలం కూర్చుని ఉన్నారంటే అతను ‘భౌతిక’ విషయాలచే ఇక ఏ మాత్రం శాసించబడటం లేదని అర్థం. అదే అద్భుతం కదా! కాని అది వారు గ్రహించలేక పోయారు. అందువల్ల ఒక ఏడుగురు తప్ప, అందరూ వెళ్ళిపోయారు. వారు ఆయనను, ‘మీకు తెలిసింది ఏమిటో, మాకూ తెలుసుకోవాలని ఉంది!’ అంటూ అభ్యర్ధించారు.

 ఆయన వాళ్ళను పట్టించుకోలేదు. కాని వాళ్ళు అక్కడే ఉండిపోయారు. వారి పట్టుదలను చూసిన ఆయన వారికి ఒక చిన్న ప్రక్రియను భోధించారు. ఆ తర్వాత మళ్లీ కళ్ళు మూసుకుని నిశ్చలంగా కూర్చండి పోయారు.ఆ ఏడుగురూ దానిని ఎంతో అభ్యాసం చేసారు. రోజులు వారలయ్యాయి, వారాలు నెలలయ్యాయి, నెలలు సంవత్సరాలయ్యాయి. 84 ఏళ్ళ సాధన తరువాత ఆదియోగి మళ్ళీ వారిని చూడటం జరిగింది. వారు తేజోవంతులుగా, తన దగ్గర ఉన్నదాన్ని స్వీకరించడానికి సిద్ధంగా ఉండడాన్ని ఆయన గమనించారు. 

ఇక ఆయన వారినిపట్టించుకోకుండా ఉండలేకపోయారు. తర్వాత పౌర్ణమి నాడు ఆయన దక్షిణం వైపుకు తిరిగి ఆ ఏడుగురికీ గురువుగా కూర్చున్నారు. ఆ రోజు ‘ఆదిగురువు’ ఆవిర్భవించారు, అంటే ఆదియోగి ‘ఆదిగురువు’గా మారారు. ఇప్పటికీ ఆ రోజునిమనం ‘గురు పూర్ణిమ’గా జరుపుకుంటున్నాం. 

ఎందుకంటే మానవ చరిత్రలో మొట్టమొదటిసారిగా కృషితో మనిషి క్రమంగాపరిణామం చెందగలిగే అవకాశాన్ని ఆయన కల్పించారు. అంతకు ముందుకానీ, ఆ తరువాత కానీ మానవ చేతన(consciousness)ను పెంపొందించడానికి అంతకన్న గొప్పగా దోహదపడినవారు ఎవరూ లేరు.ఆది యోగి వారికి యోగ శాస్త్రాన్ని బోధించడం ఆరంభించారు, అందులోని ఏడు విధానాలను ఏడుగురికీ బోధించారు. మానవ జీవిత నిర్మణాన్నీ, అది పనిచేసే విధానాన్నీ బోధించారు.

 మానవుడు ముక్తి పొందడానికి 112 మార్గాలను, స్పష్టమైన పద్ధతులతో అందజేసారు. ఆ సప్త ఋషులను మధ్య ఏషియా, దక్షిణ అమెరికా, ఉత్తర ఆఫ్రికా, ఆగ్నేయ ఏషియా, హిమాలయ దక్షిణ ప్రాంతాలకు పంపారు. ఒకరు ఆయనతో ఉండి పోయారు, ఆఖరివారు దక్షిణ భారతానికి వచ్చారు.

 ఆయనే అగస్త్య మునివర్యులు! ఆయనదక్కను పీఠభూమికి దక్షిణంగా ఉండే ప్రతిజనావాసానికీ ఆధ్యాత్మిక ప్రక్రియను – ఒక బోధన, తత్వం, మతంలా కాకుండా – ఒక జీవన విధానంలా అందించారు. ఈ రోజుకు కూడా మన సంస్కృతిలో ఆయన చేసిన కృషి కనిపిస్తుంది.ప్రేమాశీస్సులతో,సద్గురు.

15,000 Years Ago in the Himalayas

Fifteen thousand years ago, in the higher regions of the Himalayas, a yogi appeared. He sat absolutely still. No one knew who he was or where he came from. His presence was extraordinary, and because of this, many people gathered around him.

Hoping that some miracle would happen, they waited for months. Except for tears of bliss occasionally flowing from his eyes, there were no other signs that he was even alive.

If a person can sit unmoving for months, it means he is no longer controlled by material things. That itself was the real miracle. But people failed to understand this.

Gradually, everyone left except for seven people. These seven requested him, saying,
“We want to know what you know.”

The yogi did not respond, but they stayed. Seeing their determination, he taught them a small spiritual practice. After that, he closed his eyes again and sat in stillness.

The seven practiced sincerely. Days became weeks, weeks became months, and months became years. After 84 years of intense practice, Adiyogi looked at them again. He saw that they had become radiant and were ready to receive what he had to offer.

He could no longer ignore them.

On a full moon day, he turned to the south and sat as a guru to the seven. On that day, the Adi Guru was born — Adiyogi became the first Guru. Even today, that day is celebrated as Guru Purnima.

This is because, for the first time in human history, he showed that through conscious effort, a human being can evolve step by step. Before or after him, no one contributed more to the expansion of human consciousness.

Adiyogi began teaching the science of yoga. He taught its seven dimensions to the seven disciples and explained how human life is formed and how it functions.

He revealed 112 clear methods for attaining liberation (mukti). He then sent the Saptarishis (Seven Sages) to different parts of the world — Central Asia, South America, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and the southern regions of the Himalayas. One stayed with him, and the last came to South India.

That sage was Maharshi Agastya.

Agastya carried the spiritual process to every settlement south of the Deccan plateau — not as a belief system, philosophy, or religion, but as a way of life. Even today, his contribution can be seen in our culture.
