🐊 The Crocodile Who Showed the Way
A Moral Story for Kids
At the edge of a small village called Minchalavarikota, there was a big pond.
Every evening, children came there to laugh, run, and play.
One boy named Ganesh loved that place the most.
One day, Ganesh went to the pond early with his ball.
No other children had come yet.
So… just Ganesh, his ball, the quiet pond, and the sound of birds.
He started playing.
Suddenly — plop!
The ball rolled and fell into the pond.
Ganesh knew how to swim, so he thought,
“No problem. I’ll get it back.”
He slowly stepped into the water.
Just then…
Swish… splash…
He heard something moving nearby.
Ganesh looked carefully.
Oh no!
It was a crocodile — trapped in a fishing net, struggling and crying.
The crocodile saw Ganesh and began to cry even more.
“Please… please help me,” it begged.
“I’m in pain. Save me.”
Ganesh felt scared.
But he also felt sorry.
Still, he asked carefully,
“You’re a wild animal. If I free you, won’t you eat me?”
The crocodile cried and said,
“Look at my tears. Do I look like I’m lying?
Would I hurt someone who helps me?”
Ganesh thought for a moment.
“Poor crocodile,” he said softly.
He picked up two sharp stones and began cutting the net.
Slowly… carefully…
As soon as the net loosened, the crocodile’s head came out.
And then — snap!
The crocodile grabbed Ganesh’s leg!
Ganesh shouted,
“You promised! I helped you! Why are you doing this?”
The crocodile replied calmly,
“This is my nature. I cannot change who I am.”
Ganesh felt terrible.
He looked around — no people, no friends, no help.
He thought,
“I made a big mistake.”
High up in a tree, some birds were watching.
Ganesh cried out to them for help.
The birds felt sad for him.
They said,
“This world has many bad creatures.
Some never change, no matter how kindly you speak to them.”
Just then, a rabbit came hopping by and heard everything.
“This is unfair!” said the rabbit.
The rabbit spoke cleverly to the crocodile,
“I don’t understand you. Can you open your mouth and explain properly?”
The crocodile laughed,
“Do you think I’m foolish?”
But the rabbit continued, teasing,
“He can’t escape anyway. With one leg, where will he go?”
The crocodile felt proud.
It loosened its grip a little.
That moment —
Flap! Flap! Flap!
All the birds flew down together!
They pecked the crocodile’s eyes, wings, and tail.
The crocodile rolled and thrashed in pain.
For a second…
Its mouth opened!
Ganesh pulled his leg free and jumped out of the pond.
Safe at last.
The birds flew back to the tree.
The rabbit said,
“Bad hearts don’t change with kind words.”
Ganesh smiled and said,
“Thank you, dear birds. You saved my life.”
One bird replied proudly,
“When we stand together, nothing is impossible.”
Another bird said,
“We forgot our strength for too long.
If we can chase away a crocodile, why fear anyone?”
Ganesh nodded.
He had learned an important lesson.
